I also am having the exact problem. It charges fine, but is not recognized on the computer. My daughter would like some new music on her player, and some others removed. I can't do anything. Am I out of luck? I have tried installing new hardware, no luck. I have tried using the device manager, no luck. HELP.

I had the same problem as funder101.

however, i didn't download firmware.

i went to Windows Media Player, then i went to SYNC and in the upper right corner there's a symbol to format your samsung. now this will erase everything off your mp3 player. once, it reformated it and emptied my mp3 player, i was able to snyc all my music back on my mp3 player. now it works like normal! :-)

TRY THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE.

The problem may be due to one of these :

1. The USB port on the computer may be a bit loose, which is why you are getting the message "connect/disconnect", which is the reason why you are able to find the device in the os.

2. If you are using the Yepp with mac, you are going to have to upgrade its firmware using a windows pc. yepp has compatability issues with mac.

In case you have a problem to connect your Samsung YP-U2J Mp3 player, you should update Firmware to get it working. The new Firmware may be downloaded from Samsung.com.

CLICK Here to Download : Firmware Update

This error is common after I installing Windows Media Player 11

    Here is the instruction:

        Download the YP-U2J Updater

Remove Mp3 player if you already connected to the USB port

Run the program (You should see something like: Please connect the device)

Hold down the Play button and connect the Mp3 Player to USB port
(Hold down the play button while you connect the device, you should see
a message (normally after 8 seconds) like: Initializing on YP-U2J Updater program screen)

After you hear the Windows chime "new device found" or the message
"Initializing" on YP-U2J Updater, you can now remove your hand from
        play button.

Check the Format Data Area checkbox (By clicking the yes button, you will lose all of your data in your Mp3 player)

        Click the "yes" button

Finally, click on the Start button (takes less than a minute). DO NOT REMOVE YOUR DEVICE

IMPORTANT: After updating the firmware, you MUST
disconnect the Mp3 player and turn it on. You will see a 20% message
for about 50 seconds and it will be restarted automatically.

    Update: Please
keep in mind that if you sync your Mp3 player with a computer that has
a Windows Media Player 9 or 10, you should do these steps again

Want to add different music delete the music I have

Most of the mp3 players out there are compatable with Windows Media Player on your pc. Open WMP and then connect your mp3 player to your pc. If it is compatable it will recognize it. From here you can delete any songs that show up on your mp3 player and also add to it from your library that you build in WMP. The manufacturer may also have software for it but if it does work with WMP I would stick with that. Hope this helps ...

Wmp 11 on vista

right click on your cd rom drive. Click on properties, then, autoplay>Select Music cd from dropdown menu. then select "take no action" for disabling WMP popup , if you have another cd player software, choose it to make that popup when you insert cd.

Sorry to say, That wonf fix your WMP but the problem. And sorry, there is not enough info to help you on WMP fixing.

Thanks

and yes, please dont forget to Rate, if it works.

Deleting Videos

WMP doesn't recognize the players video file system, or your computer does not have the right codecs for WMP to recognize that file type

Delete from windows explorer instead - but be careful to only delete the videos, and not the system files/folders that control video for this player

Downloading

I would assume that the music is copy-protected and that the device will refuse to play it because it can't go out to the internet to find a license. If you ripped the music from a CD in WMP, look for an option within WMP that says ''copy protect music'' and make sure it is NOT checked.

Its not plug and playing Sandisk 240m 1g

Hi blackmajik, I just got a Sandisk m250. Windows wouldn't recognize it either until I updated my Windows Media Player to version 11. Now XP sees it just fine and the MP3 player syncs with WMP and accepts and plays music!
