Palm Tungsten E - I have two users set up - the initial one didn't work. The initial one is the only one that shows up in the Quick install program. How do I get my current user to show up in Quick install so that I can install a program?

First do a hotsync. That should then show both names. Then just select the name to install stuff to on quick install.

You should be able to delete the user you don't want from the deskto

I cannot sync my Palm Tungsten E with MS Outlook.

  1. Step 1 Install the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
  2. Step 2 Use the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm Tungsten.
  3. Step 3 Open the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
  4. Step 4 Turn on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA. Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know the progress of the synchronization.
  5. Step 5 Unplug the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is available on the PDA.

Tungsten E problem

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

Can't install palmone quick install on vista

Vista and quick install work just fine for me.. Here is the process.. Using latest 4.1 from palm.com

you may loose palm desktop data and the users you have created

shut down hotsync, quick install, and palm desktop

go to start.. Programs... Palm desktop

highlight hotsync manager and left click... Go to properties...

Go to compatibility tab and tick run in windows XP mode

select disable visual themes and at bottom select run as administrator

OK that and go to quick install and palm desktop and do the exact same

restart hotsync manager (you will need to allow the program now)

start palm desktop (you will likely need a new user created) (you will also have to allow)

start quick install and poof it will work like new on your vista PC

I struggled with that one for at least 45 min myself but I can now go to quick install and find my application and upload to my palm and sync with ease!

Hope that helps

Quick install not working

If you look on your palm, do you know what the Palm name is?
You can find this by clicking the hotsync icon once and it should appear in the upper right hand corner.

Then in quick install, make sure the name in the drop down window matches. You could be installing the files to the wrong profile.

The other thing to check is to make sure your palm is successfully syncing. The hotsync icon on the palm should show the last successful sync time and date.

Synchronizing Tungsten T3 with desktop or laptop

I recently re-installed my T3 program

What do you mean?
  • Did you restore your T3 from a backup on the PC?
  • Did you install programs on the T3 using the PC's "quick install"?
Is Palm Desktop showing the correct Contact/To-do/Calendar Data?

How are the conduits set up? (From Palm Desktop, select Hotsync->Custom)

Tungsten E - HotSync with Outlook 2003

Don't skip the initial HotSync for secondary computer! Alright, I figured this one out on my own and figured I'd post what I'd learned so that others don't have to endure the teeth mashing, hair pulling, snarling frustration. (self induced as it may be) My experiences have taught me to not always trust a cookie cutter installation wizard...especially for custom app installations (ie: primary = home, secondary=work, total sync, no priority). So, I did not perform the initial sync during installation of the palm software fearing that the new installation would NOT recognize that the work computer was a secondary machine and resultantly wipe out the old palm data from the primary machine. Turns out, as I saw in many other unrelated posts, that it's difficult (if not impossible) to specify conduit direction to outlook 2003 outside of the initial sync (this prompted me to specifically look for conduit direction during install). So, this wizard is one I should have trusted...by mistake...because of weak program design. By the way...once I specified sync with outlook during the initial sync, EVERYTHING works fine despite not having installed the two "imperative" conduit updates (they were uninstalled after several previous failed attempts at this). Hope this helps
