Pull the refrig out and remove the back panel . You should see the compressor and the cooling fan ( condenser fan ) . If the fan isn't working , it needs to be replaced . If the compressor isn't running or starts then cuts off , then the box plugged onto the side of the compressor , with 3 wires going to it ( overload/relay ) needs to be replaced .

I have a maytag side by side refrigerator freezer with a Embarco EGY 100 HLP compressor

Probably not. Sounds like compressor would have to be replaced. It's an expensive repair. It would depend on age if unit

My Maytag side/side freezer not cooling. Motor is running. Woke up this morning and water was on the floor. What can I do? Please, we're moving and this just happened. Its only 4 yrs old

your condenser fan is running, but the compressor if its quite warm to the touch isn't,its running on both start and run windings and will burn out the windings over time if left like this, you need to replace the ptc overload relay combo on the comperssor and the unit will again cool properly

Fridge running hot!

One you can to try and extend the life of the fridge is to vacuum off the compressor and coils. They can be located either behind the toe grill on the bottom front or through an opening on the back of the fridge. It is natural for a fridge to blow warm air.

"maytag plus wide by side is not getting cold enough"

The defrost thermostat is failing on these machines as well as the adaptive defrost control.
The compressor start relay is on recall from Maytag also.

Maytag wide by side not cooling. just prior to this frost build up on top of freezer. Compressor not running.

Check to see if you have frost on the back panel of your freezer in your fridge. If you do your coil is frozen over and you'll have to defrost your freezer. I just did mine cause mine wasn't cooling properly on my fridge side. My coil was solid ice.
