You can replace the broken part with a new one very easily, I sell them on eBay both the upper and lower shaft part which ever one you need. Search eBay for "Bounty Hunter repair parts" and it will come up. If it is the lower shaft they now come in the one peice molded neopreim construction and they are made better now than they used to be. You can also order them directly from the manufacturer (First Texas Products) at (915)633-8354.
If there is a customer service number id try there if not, try replaceing it with the pole of a cheaper detector
