Check your engine oil using the oil dipstick located on the engine - you need to add oil to the fill line as shown on the dipstick. You should have the oil replaced regularly (every 3-6 months) and keep your eye on the level if the engine is leaking oil underneath or burning a lot of it.

hi,i have an lg 389h dvd recorder,it just says hello scrolling across the display, and doesnt respond to any functions on the, remote control, any ideas, cheers.
First thing to do is disconnect all your speakers at the back of the receiver, then turn it back on. If it does not go into protection, post a comment and I can walk you thru troubleshooting. If it still goes into protection, your unit needs to be serviced. Hope this helps
Home Theater System Is Displaying "Protection"
As soon as the unit is turned on, the word "PROTECTION" will flash on the front panel of the unit and SHUT OFF. This error message usually indicates that the fan in the back of the unit is not on.
The PROTECTION feature automatically shuts down the unit to avoid further damage. The unit will need service if this error message is displayed.

Hello, Protection mode on a Samsung player most likely means that the unit is overheating due to a non or low functioning fan. Before taking it somewhere to be serviced turn the unit on and see if the fan in the back is functioning (it should be on whenever the unit is on). If it is not you can try gently blowing it out with a can of compressed air. I am sure that you can have it serviced but it might be cheaper to purchase a new player. Good luck and take Care, -WN
