Bose Companion 2 Speakers won't work with Sony Vio Laptop

I just purchased a Sony Vio Laptop and hooked it to my HP - 2207 monitor. The sound comes through the monitor. I tried plugging my Bose Compannion 2 speakers to the head phone outlet on the laptop with and without the extra monitor plugged in. I then tried plugging the Bose to the speaker outlet on my HP monitor. The Bose work if I unplugg the HDMI monitor cable and plug the speakers to the laptop. If I plug the HDMI monitor back into the computer, the speakers no longer work. Does this mean that the Bose Companion 2 will not work with a computer that has a HDMI monitor cable to a monitor? I want the extra monitor, but I also want my speakers to work.

I have bose computer speakers that i thought wouldnt work on my laptop at first but after playing around with it i can only get the left speaker which doesnt have any red or white plugs to mess with just the direct line that goes into the headphone input on my laptop. i have a ibook g4. is there any way to get the other one to work also because that speaker has all the controls and this isnt half as lound as it was when it was connected to my regular comp.

You don't write which operating system you use, but generally you should be able to choose where the sound output goes in the Sound Properties in Control Panel.
If however Sony decided to put some special software that does the thinking for you, and directs the sound output via the HDMI when connected, then you have to dig deeper...

Problem hooking up bose speakers

mcdevito75 here, The HP speakers that came with your computer work fine, the bose speakers work fine on your other computer, the plug on the Bose speakers is a little shorter than the HP speakers, and only the right Boss speaker is working, HMM, Check the Bose speakers, both of them for a volume control 1 of them may need adjustment on this particular computer. If that"s not it, I would speak to a Radio Shack, Staples etc.

Bose Companion 5 Problems

email support@bose.com or contact a Bose Support Specialist in Germany; or call US support at 1-800-367-4008. Something very odd is happening here. You are using the same laptop, correct? If not, let me know, as there are some things to try. If Bose has a solution, I'd love to hear it.

Connecting Bose Companion 3 to HP Pavilion Desktop (Elite m9150f)

you have to configure your sound at control panel; you have to switch from computer speakers to external, with or without a woofer. Easy shreazy.
