Well on my 2430DL the release for the toner carousel is definitely not where komguy says it is. Open the top cover and on top of the printer case on the right hand side you will see a hole now exposed by opening the top cover. You think at first it is where the top cover latches into as it is more or less identically placed (but on the right) to where the top cover latch does latch into (on the left hand side).
Stick a pen or something into this hole and you will feel a some spring resistance - push down and the carousel will rotate until you can get access to each toner cartridge in turn.
Note that you can do this via the replace toner function on the LCD menu but for me I get the dreaded Err: Line 2474 error when I try to invoke the replace toner function and so I had to find a manual way of rotating the carousel.

There's a button you press with a screwdriver just inside the front door on the left. While you hold it in you can rotate to the one you need. Also in the menu screens you select change toner and the color you want.

I don't suggest refilling cartridges as I work on printers every day but seems to me that you have done everything correctly the only thing I think you have done is either filled with incorrect toner thus giving a incorrect reading or when moving gear you have dislodged the pin that activates the reset procedure.
Thanks J

This is actually a desigbn fault on the magicolor printers. Underneath the toner rack is the 3 pin chip reader - normally white and plastic with 3 metal contacts sticking out.
it is at the bottom of the printer so very often toner drops onto it and the sensors dont work, it also takes a bit of a beating as the cartridges rotate. Its very easy to replace - but you need the part,
Minolta should have put it at the top rather than the bottow where it gets covered in dust.
these guys helped me a lot

Manually Removing Toner for magicolor 2400W
1. Hold down the Cancel button for 10 seconds or longer.
2. With the Cancel button still held down, also simultaneously hold down the Rotate Toner button for 10 seconds or longer.
3. When all LED indicators are blinking rapidly, release both the Cancel and Rotate Toner buttons.
4. Then hold down the Rotate Toner button again for another 10 seconds or longer.
5. The Cyan toner cartridge moves into the proper position, so it can be removed.
6. Remove and/or replace the Toner Cartridge if necessary.
7. Open and close the covers. Each time you do this, another toner cartridge moves into the proper position, so it can be removed and/or replaced (in this order: cyan, black, yellow, magenta).
