It's on the main logic pcb on the right side. You have to remove the back cover, unplug the scanner cables, remove the scanner and top cover and then the right side cover. The battery is on the circuit board on the inside side, so you have to remove the board to see it.

Don't need to remove the back cover and scanner stuffs. Just remove the front cover where SD card slot as pictures. Link for reference:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVR2dHeb...

Follow this document

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00310229&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=91463

After following the document if the issue is not fixed, try this final step

1. Disconnected power cord from back of printer ( while printer is Power on)
2. Press and Hold # and 6 Button together
3. While holding the button, connect the power cord
4. Leave the #6 button after 5 seconds.
5. Follow the instructions to align the printer.

( Hopefully this should fix the issue, else consider your printer as broken unit which cannot be fixed )

If you still get the error message, Your printer is broken. Contact www.hp.com/support and enter 7140xi in product and choose chat or email to let HP know the issue.

Officejet 7140xi print problem

Try getting the printer to re-initialize itself, also make sure that the copper contacts on the cartridge and printhead are clean.
You may be able to fix this issue by unplugging the unit while it is on and holding the # and 6 while plugging the unit back in (semi full NVM reset)

Scanner failure

All over the web the concensus seems to be disassembly and cleaning bulb, mirros and/or the glass and a calibration strip. Mine has the same error, and I'm gonna try the cleaning those locations. This forum mentioned a disassembly procedure for the D145, I hope it's the same for the 7100 series (7140XI) I'll post back my success.
