My Maytag "quiet series" oversize top load washer easily goes out of balance and bangs loudly because the tub is banging against the metal front. The washer moves across the floor when this happens. This always happens with a heavy load (like towels), but sometimes happens with light load too. I opened it up (removed the front) and could not find anything wrong.
This is usually due to the floor not being perfectly level, and as a consequence the washing machine not standing firmly on all 4 supports.
There should be at least 2 adjustable feet under the machine, try to make it stand as level as possible, with uniform load on all four.
If you have a bubble level it may help you establish, if there's an obvious slope on your floor and adjust the machine so that it's well levelled.
Good luck!
