Hi we keep getting error code c6 on the inside unit, we have tried cleaning the filter and resetting the power which helps for about 5 mins then it comes up again and stops working, you cannot turn the unit off, via remote or via the button on the side of the unit. We have 2 of these units and they both have the same error code and will not work, the manual has nothing in there about error code C6. Can you please help as the weather is becoming unbearable, do I need to call someone in. We have only had these units for about 14 mths.
thanksĀ in advance.
Error C6 on lg cool art is common. you guy need a new CAPACITOR. cost $7.05c aud. it's 6uF 450vac.
take about less than 10min to install.
my lg model is lsz244vm-4, it's run well now.
If you live in Melbourne, call WAM Electrical in Box Hill... They came out and fixed the problem in 10 minutes, it's working perfectly now through these 40 degree days !
Product Technical Update sheet 19
Date 02-08-2008
Title: Fault code 06 and 22 DC Peak
Fault code 06 on RAC units is the same as fault code 22 on CAC units; this is one of
the hardest fault codes to diagnose. The fault is caused by an over current in the
inverters DC power circuit and is caused by either the inverter PCB or the
compressor having a fault. The tricky part of this fault is identifying whether it is the
compressor or the Inverter PCB which is at fault.
Please ask the engineers to check the following:
Switch off the power and disconnect the compressor leads, Check the resistance of
the compressor windings, red to blue, red to yellow and blue to yellow, the values
should all be equal and typically they should be between 1 and 5 Ohms, If not
replace the compressor. Reconnect the compressor and start the unit.
Does the compressor run?
Yes -
Check supply Voltage to compressor measure from (Red to blue) then (Red to
Yellow and Blue to Yellow) AC Volts.
If the readings are not equal the PCB is at fault, if they are all equal the compressor
needs testing.
Check the run current of the compressor on all three phases, red, yellow and
blue, these should all be equal If not the compressor will be faulty.
Check the current drawn by the unit at the incoming power terminal to the
outdoor unit this should be no higher than the rated current on the units data
plate, If the current is high the compressor will be faulty.
Does the compressor run?
No-
You need to check the inverter output voltages are all equal; you will need a
meter with a min max function,
Turn off the power and disconnect the leads to the compressor, Connect your
meter from (Red to blue) set your meter to record max and min Voltage AC,
Power up and Start the unit, watch the Voltage rise, Record the maximum
Voltage.
The inverter will stop after a few seconds and the Voltage will fall to 0 Volts
Swap the leads to measure from Red to Yellow, Measure as before, Repeat
for Blue to Yellow.
The readings of maximum Voltage should be the same for all 3 measurements if not
the PCB is faulty it will need replacing, if they are all equal the compressor is faulty.
please do NOT try this i could damage your unit if you don't know what you are doing call a service provider.
Had the same problem c6 my technician fixed the problem this morning. He said the control pannel needed to be changed on the inverter and there was a burnt out wire leading to the control pannel. If you have warranty and your proof of purchase it should be free of charge. Bing Lee refered me to( All general whitegoods and electrical) at Wetheril park, sydney. This company deal with LG products only. I would never buy a split system with an inverter ever again too many problems. Lucky for me I have 5 years extended warranty. The technician gave me a tip and said to clean the filter every 2 weeks if you use the unit constantly. Hope info was helpful.
The remote control air-conditioning has diagnostic tools that diagnose the unit for five minutes. If the diagnostic tools cannot find problem to your unit then it will continue running as normal. But if the diagnostic tools find problem in your unit then it will automatically shutdown for the safety of your unit, to avoid fatal damage.
So I suggest that you have to call a qualified technician.
Hi everybody C6 error code on your lg indoor unit is relating to the outdoor . you need to replace the door coil sensor & pipe discharge sensor ( th 14 thermistor ) not expensive pcb boards .
Hope this helps Curly kev.
We purchased 2 of these units and the error code has appeared on both of them. 1 was fixed some time ago by a tech who replaced a fault part in 2 minutes it has worked perfectly since. The other unit has just thrown the code and is being looked at tomorrow morning so i will list what was replaced... seems to be a LG Artcool issue that should have been recalled i think.
Quick note to PhilHeth. Never Never allow anyone to let refrigerant gas charge vent to atmosphere. This gas is an Ozone depleting gas & it is illegal to relaease. All modern A/C units have a gas charge weighed in at manufacture & this will be sufficent for a set pipe run, Over that length additional charge must be added at the specified rate. Any one that adds or removes gas charge without checking the existing weight of charge (this means reclaiming all refrigerants in to a sealed container) does not know what he is doing & should be reported to the Australian refrigeration Council immediatly.
Hi - I reported this error back in June. Our local LG service mob came out fairly quick &.......'let out some gas'!! I was obviously a bit dubious about this doing much (not that I am any AirCon expert!) but.......it's now late AUG & we've had the unit on almost every evening to heat up the unusually pretty cold Brisbane winter nights & .......the error has not returned!!! He said sometimes, these errors can be caused by a excess build-up of gas pressure. I guess the proof is in the puddin!!! I think half the problem here is that the error is too generic & must cover alot of different possible faults/issues. Hence the confusion & frustration. Anyway - all is forgiven & LG aint so bad afterall.
I have a ductless LG split system. One unit runs fine. The second powers up, vents open, but the fan does not run. Any ideas on this?

I have the same problem. Message "C6" appears and nothing works, I have to switch the power off and on, then it works fine. this happens once every week or so. very annoying.
same prob - called LG and told it means there is too much power going to the outdoor unit - whatever that means! big problem as LG only have ~4 warranty service people in melbourne!! have to wait til january 17th for our service..... very poor service i think by LG and ours is not even 2 yrs old either, and we have 3 month old baby with more hot days on the horizon..... NOT HAPPY
I Have just purchased this ART COOL in december, and I have the error msg "C5" Same problem you guys are having, nothing working. Have tried resetting, BUT nothing. Why do we find these problems on HOT DAYS!!! I have tried to get assistance on the LG service site, but nothing on error codes. Tried contacting LG, NOT in Business Hours. Very disappointed.
we have the same error code C6, machine runs for a while but outdoor compressor fan is not running. eventually it shuts down..... the service co said it is a 15 min fix by technician, but takes weeks to get an appointment!!!
Well Life's NOT so Good with an LG for us either. Same problem with one of two units installed less than 12 months ago. The error code seems to relate to a fault with the outdoor unit as the fan will not rotate.
The Most annoying thing is that if it was programmed to display C6 when a fault has occurred, the reason should be documented somewhere in the manual.
error still C6. this model is not pretty good hey.
We have the same problem. Ours is less than 1 year old. Ours started playing up on January 24th and despite phone calls to the reseller and LG at least once a week, we've been told today that the part that was to be fitted in 4 days time (April 1st - how ironic) wasn't in the container that just landed in Sydney and no ETA for the next delivery. Had a gut-full and about to try Consumer Affairs or whoever to see what we can do.
We had our ArtCool installed must be 2x winters ago now & admit we haven't used it much for cooling (the Brisbane summers just haven't been massively hot lately). BUT, we have used in the winter for heating & this is when we get the C6 error. As with everyone else, I have to flick the fuse box switch to reset it. Then it usually works again for a while. I also don't think this units heat as well as I hoped. There's seems to be a cooler draught around the room associated with the heat - somehow? Anyhow, I guess I need to ring the LG service no here. I wonder what the warranty was on this now. With such a wide-spread problem, you'd think a recall or a manufacturer initiated update would be the most customer service friendly solution rather than LG risking a bad reputation arising.
The same unit is now nearly 3 years old and has worked as expected with NO issues over this time..
C6 Error. Switching off at the Fuse Box clears the error.
Steps taken after that.
1. Click the Infrared unit switches the unit off.
2. Click Infrared On, whether set to Heating or Cooling the error comes on within 10 secs
No activity and no fan rotation in the external unit

C6 Error on LSZ2144VM4 ArtCool
Installed October 25th 2005, first error.
Had to wait 2 weeks for PCB, now working. Total off air time about 3 weeks.
LG Warranty repair because of 5 yr warranty. Domestic. LG said 2 days tunaround for parts if stocked in Melbourne otherwise 2 weeks delivery from Korea.

yes i have exactly the same problem. c6 on the art cool unit bought in 05 and this is the first time. dec 08. when it's hot.
Model No. LG LSZ092VM4 "C5 error"
C6 fault stayed fixed on LG neon plasma air con unit for three days. i clean all filters and serviceable parts reguarly. i couldn't switch the unit on or off with the remote or on the unit. turned mains off for a minute didn't work. turned mains off for approximately a further 5 minutes before turning back on. air con remained off but without message. used remote to turn on as normal and cool air resulted! thank god, Australia Day's going to hot!
I have the C6 error as well
i have the same error c6. it stopes the unit and after i reset working for 5 min.and stops again.
Same symptom as others here - c6 error code after aroudn 5 mins of running. Ā Filter is clean, and after error requires a mains turn-off before it will work again... for another 5 mins..Ā

I believe that this (C6) is an indoor unit coil sensor fault. That is, the thermistor that measures the temperature of the indoor heat exchanger is open or short circuit. Replacement should fix this.

Scratch that last comment, wrong code. C6 is DC peak error. The display show "C6" Compressor will be turned off immediately. (not enable to restart by remote controller)
I have problem with inverter LG model S12AN. Aftet 2 min stops working, you cannot turn the unit off or on. Led lights 6 times. what is wrong, can You help me!
