3com nbx 2102 issue - have had 2 phones i 1 week where not allowed to pick up the hand set. Connection only occurs when you hit speaker, or the line button. Pulled both phones to trouble shoot, both had the Hands Free button turned on. I turned it off and they still don't work. Any ideas?

The phones aren't on the system. You have to make sure to turn on "Auto Discover Telephones" under the system settings, system configuration tab within "tab to it" (on 5.0 and older software) and System wide settings, auto discovery with newer software. If the phones are plugged into the same network as the phone system, the phones will automatically come up with extensions.
Set it up just like you would dial it. example 917145551234. You have to do this from your extn login and will have to have trunk to trunk enabled under your class of service.
I would recommend starting with what is simple.
Have you tried replacing the Ethernet patch cord that the phone is connected to?
How about the curly cord between the phone and handset?
Does the phone do the same thing if you connect it to a different port?
Does a different phone do the same then when connected where this phone is connected?
The website you are referring to is your phone systems Web-based management interface.
You need to talk to whoever is managing your phone system and ask them what the new IP address of the system is.
You cannot program a key with an assigned function like tranfer call or conference call, only with the basic button keys can you program it like Key 0 and Key 1.
