I have hitachi lcd rear projection tv model 60v500A at first I was getting a red spot on centar of tv with in two mounths the spot got bigger. I chanched the lamp but now i don't have a picture, the red indicator on tv is now blinking.
Was the tv working before you replaced the lamp? if it was then make shure you have reinstalled the new lamp and the door exactly as removed, there is a disconect switch on the door that has to close when the door is reinstalled,or sometimes the ballast may go bad at the same time.Hope tha t will help you fix it.
If you Google "60v500a light engine" you will learn a few things about this set which was first sold in 2003.
There are some class action lawsuits out there for several Hitachi models made at about the same time.
Most of the time these sets develop a discolored area fairly large in the middle of the screen---a lot of them had a large red or pink oval area but other colors are possible.
This set uses a LAMP for the light source and it directs the light into the optical light engine--at the top of the engine is a 3 inch lens that the picture comes out of and is directed into the mirror which puts it on the screen.
Lots of these sets develop a "burn" inside the engine from the heat--there are a series of lens and baffles inside---even slight separation inside will change the color in some area of the picture.
I am sorry to give you bad news but I have replaced a lot of these engines under extended and when they were new mfg. warranty.
The part is no longer available from Hitachi new--the only way to get one is to remove the one in the set and have it sent out for "rebuild" and the last time I saw one the engine was over 600 dollars at the wholesale level not counting the fact that it is major labor to replace.
Find someone in your area familiar with Hitachi and this model and you will see what I am talking about.
Even though this is not good news, I think it is what your problem is.

First---There is a class action lawsuit(google the model number and you will find about this).
Both the 50V500 AND 60V500 HAD THIS PROBLEM.
The red oval in the middle of the screen is a burnt light engine--called the optical engine. The lamp this set uses shines into one end of the engine which has a series of lens etc and the picture comes out of the 3 inch lens on top of the engine and is directed into a mirror which reflects it onto the screen.
The heat from the lamp causes slight separation of one of the lens inside the unit.
HITACHI knows about this problem and was for a while providing replacement engines for 200 dollars; Now the least expensive replacements I have seen are over 600 dollars wholesale---the new engines are supposed to not have the same kind of problem.
Considering the cost of the part and major labor to replace it(you have to dismantle the entire set) it is most likely not worth repairing. If you are an original owner you may want to look into the class action law suit.
Sorry for the bad news but I have replaced several of the engines in this set.
If you have questions or need advice let me know here.
has it been inspected for proper lens and mirror cleaning? or by cloudy you are referring to some kind of weak signal. when the cleaning is needed the picture comes in dim but with definition and the correct color, tint though gives the impression is to bright or very low in contrast.
