I have a 1989 dodge dakota and my radio wont turn on after the cap for a relay fell off and i went to put it back on and it sparked and the radio shut off. please help me. ive checked the fuses and theyre fine. i even replaced that relay. everything but the radio works. the light for the radio wont come on and when i start it up the speakers thump.

If a vehicle won't start, it's one of two things: no spark, or no fuel. If the vehicle is turning over, you can check for bad coils, distributor cap/points, or bad spark plugs/wires. On the other end, you can check for clogged fuel injectors/carburetor, clogged fuel filter, etc.

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ?
Code 42 is a problem with the fuel pump relay or ASD relay circuit.

Maybe the coil is shot

check and make sure you have 12 volts to fuel pump with key in on position, if not trace back wires to relay if good, turn key on, off , on, off
then leave on and check codes may be crank sensor, or cam sensor

try replace to rotar and cap

check your fuses or your timing is off if your timing is off get your timing light if that dont work and is the motor even cranking over

u have put new coil and no spark in plug , it is ur distributor cap is needed replacement but first have a look inside the distrubutor cap for any wear if is u need new one ok
