My HP 6310 printer / fax is too far away from the phone line. Is there a way to fax wirelessly using this printer?

This is a result of a fax modem fialure, Common in Hp's what happends is the all in one was plugged into a nakid phone line without a surge surpressor or what not and basically got zapped, other causes could be the modem just not functioning.

Point in case your going to need to have this repaired there is NO reset albeit Magic wand that a tech shakes at it to make it work.

Unplug the power and phone line and then replug it. Also try a manual phone on the line. Tell me what you get? thanks.

To be sure your phone is plugged in properly try picking up a different phone in your home with the fax also plugged into a phone line. The fax display should indicate "Phone off hook".
If the problem still persits, turn off the power to the printer/fax then turn it back on. This reboots the software and usually fixes the problem.

You need to get IP address from the printer, and enter it in the router. Or sometimes the software will do it on installation

did you have fax service on the line?

1-are you sure it is in the correct jack? there are two in the back of the printer
2-when you did the install it should have done a fax line check

This is fax reception problem caused by using a voice mail service from the phone company. Contact the phone company for assistance.
