Trying to send fax & rollers will not pick up paper. Can we buy replacement rollers & are they easily fitted?

If the gear is broken, you most likely need to replace the pick up roller which is extremely hard or almost impossible. You may try to see if the error is really with the broken gear, or you if you just have a dusty roller that picks up paper by checking if the rollers is actually spinning when it is trying to pick up the paper.
To see what the issue is with gear or roller, try the following:
1. Remove the output paper tray and paper from the loading tray.
2. Send a copy job or print job through.
3. have a flashlight to shine light on the pick up roller and se if it spins. Try touching with your hand to be sure.
4. If the roller spins, put some alcohol on a cloth or paper towel and clean the rubber rollers.
5. Wait a few minutes, load paper and try sending copy job again.
If the roller is not spinning, then you have a problem with gears for sure.

I used to be a brother repairer and this problem is not uncommon. Unfortuantely the paper feed system will need replacing. that is the complete arm assy. I cant remember what the individual component is that causes this problem. If i remember right just changing the rollers does not cure it. By the way its an awful job changing it as most of the machine has to come apart to fit it.
personally unless you are expierenced in this sort of job i would not bother and would just buy another machine.

Paper Pick up Rollers get dirty or worn out with the passage of time. Hence, require cleaning or replacement if worn out. In case you find them dirty use a soft, dry, lint free cloth to clean the rollers. Don't use chemicals as they may damage the rubber and plastic. However, if needed, you can use damp cloth or some cleaning liquid such as mild detergent or glass cleaner to damp the cloth.
Lift the top Cover, Locate the roller and clean them. Depending upon the make & model of the fax you have, lift the top cover accordingly and locate the paper pickup roller.

Try cleaning the paper pickup rollers with a cloth rag dampened with alcohol. The rollers get slippery with paper dust and they don't pick up the paper.

when the paper pick up roller is dirty, ( with the dust) the paper can not be loaded properly, to avoid this problem clean the pick up roller softly with alcohol, use a brush you msut touch the entire surface of the roller, do not forget the separation pad clean it,

Ok,the problem normaly with this model is in the feeding of the paper.For some or other reason the paper is moving to slow threw the machine and then the machine detect it as a longer size paper.

• Clean the rollers that pick the paper up and clean also the sepatation rubbers under neath the paper pick up rollers.This rubbers is called the separation pads.
• To clean this rollers,remove the cartridge and you will see the feed roller at the back.

I think what happened with the move the machine might collected dust and now the rollers are slipping.

Yes,but the most imported part for dubble feeding is the sepatation pad,this white pad is on the lower part of the docfeeder and work with the feed rollers,fist make sure that pad is clean before you replace the rollers,and then replace the pad.

One of two things is happening ok maybe three. If the machine thinks the size of the paper is not what u are using this could happen. Try:

For any adjustment you could make.
The second is the paper is getting picked up a little late. The machine knows it did not print the entire page and finishes the job. Try cleaning the pick op roller.
The third is the page being sent to you is to long. This would likely be from one location only. There machine could be slipping when scanning and "extending" the page it is trying to send.

Replacing the roller can be prety extensive work. Try to check and make that the pick-up roller on the bottom is flat across sometimes it can get turns backwards and it has a round side that will not grasp the paper. If this is ture just take your finger and push the roller forwards. You can alo take a clean wipe and wipe off all of the rollers the rollers are made to be a little tacky when they start to get a little older dust can build up on them causing them not to grab the paper
