My wife rang me today and said that the LG front loader washing machine model WD-8050FH made a bang noise and then there was a burning smell. This happend after about 10 seconds at the start of a wash cycle. I cannot open the door and need to know how to do it with or without power. Also, when I put the machine into test mode it dings 7 times, all lights do come on. Please Help.
Door Eventually Opened. Checked all components and found that a thyristor on the main PCB had blown up. The main board is all encased in a epoxy resin so I am forced to buy a complete new unit instead of fixing it. The thyristor costs a couple of bucks but the complete board costs heaps. Who ever designed the system like this must have been in cahoots with the parts supply section. They obviuosly made sure of their future trade.
