Message "clear paper jam" when there is no jammed paper.

Clearing Paper Jams If the printer's control panel displays a paper jam message, look for paper in the locations indicated in Figure 22, then see the procedure for clearing the paper jam. You might need to look for paper in other locations than indicated in the paper jam message. If the location of the paper jam is not obvious, look first in the top cover area.When clearing paper jams, be very careful not to tear the paper. If a small piece of paper is left in the printer, it could cause additional jams. If message in display panel reads [13.XX PAPER JAM [LOCATION]]Media is jammed at the specified location (and possibly at other locations). If the message persists after all jams have been cleared, a sensor or sensor lever might be stuck or broken.

For all jam messages, do the following: 1. Remove jammed print media from the specified location. Check the entire paper path for other pieces of media in the path. 2. Open and close the top cover to clear the message. 3. Check sensors and flags in the paper path for proper operation.

For message 3.0 PAPER JAM [LOCATION]
means A non-specific paper jam occurred.

Hp printer paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Thanks for using FixYa. Before you can clear the error message, you must locate where in the unit the paper is jammed.

Unplug the machine for safety. Now follow these instructions based on where the paper jam is located.

1. Pull the paper tray out of the machine.
2. Pull out the jammed paper.
3. Reset the machine by opening the Upper Jam Clear Cover and then closing it.

If you cannot remove the jammed paper from the front of the machine, or the error message still appears on the LCD after you have removed the jammed paper, please go to the next step.

4. Remove the Lower Jam Clear Cover from the back of the machine. Pull the jammed paper out of the machine.

5. Put the Lower Jam Clear Cover back on. Make sure the cover is set properly.

6. Open the Upper Jam Clear Cover. Make sure that there is no jammed paper left in the corners of the machine.
Note: If the paper is jammed under the print head, unplug the machine from the power source, then move the print head to take out the paper. 7. Close the Upper Jam Clear Cover.

8. Close the output paper tray cover and slide it forward, then push the paper tray firmly back into the machine. While holding the paper tray in place, pull out the paper support until it clicks and unfold the paper support flap.

In order for a jam message to reset to READY, the printer logic is looking for an "06 COVER OPEN" message. The top cover of the machine must be opened to clear the jam message. If the top cover interlock switch is stuck closed, the printer logic never clears the jam message, even after all the paper has been removed. The printer appears hung with the paper jam message and can only be made READY by powering the printer Off and back On.

Look for little pieces of paper that get stuck in the rollers, also verify that the gears and roller didn't get misaligned when you cleared the jam.

usually it means that a sensor in your fuser is bad. If you have a P.M. Kit replaced the fuser and clean the printer.

but before you do, make sure that you have cleared all jams, including in the fuser.
