I have the following components:
Well you will get a littlt less than what the manufaturer say you
Use 720 p with that sharp acous ok it
Well, hd dvds can be displayed at 1080i (the highest res.). If you want to watch regular dvds you want to watch it in 480. (standard definition.) Also try this Wikipedia article on HD dvds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_DVD#Video Also, for the dvd player, try this site. http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/dvd/product.asp?model=HD-A3 For the hookup part, you want to put in all AV cables into the tv. Make sure to note which input you are putting them in so you can find the dvd player in the input menu. Hope this helps. :)
Well your TV has a 1920 x 1080 Pixels hi resolution is this what you mean?
I would hook up your HDDVD via HDMI to the TV and the regular DVD to Component1 on the TV,
hope this helps
Yes to your question, use HDMI HDDVD to TV should be a direct Digital connection with no loss (this is video only), the audio should connect to the receiver as you said.
I have the same setup, not the same hardware but the setup is the same. I also have my PC connected to via HDMI. when I switch between sources HDMI1, HDMI2 my LCD TV will display the resolution it finds, in my case it will display 1080
does you TV display the res when you switch? is it saying 480?
also are you using quality HDMI cables?
hope this helps
Also found there is a firmware update on the HDDVD
did you do this?
Firmware Update Version: 1.3
This firmware update improves network connectivity for supporting the download of web- enabled network content associated with certain HD DVD discs, improves certain video and audio processing capabilities, and also addresses certain disc playback and HDMI/DVI related issues identified by Toshiba.

As stated, your suggestion doesn't help because it should be unnecessary for me to send the video via two different cables. The HDDVD player also upconverts my regular dvd's and there is NO component video interface on the new Toshiba as it only has HDMI for video...
I bought my tv because it can display 1080i and I bought the HDDVD to discplay 1080i.
The question is, can I send the video directly from the HDDVD to the tv via HDMI and have the audio go thru my ARCAM receiver via component WITHOUT LOSING video resolution?
I have been told by my original installer that he has not been able to get this to display in 1080i. He said the output is knocked down to 480. I just don't understand why?
Thank you! If you have any ideas that can help, it is very much appreciated.
I will try this out.
Thank you!
