Avaya 6416D+M, rings half ring, then goes straight to voice mail

We have an avaya 6416D+M, we use a definity system. The user dropped his phone and now it will not ring more than about a half ring and then it goes straight to voice mail. He wasn't sure if he hit some buttons on his phone when re-connecting. I plugged another phone in it's place to rule out damage to the phone, this was an 8410d, and it does the same thing. I'm able to get to the avaya site manager but don't see anything different compared to another user using the 6416D+M phone. I'm puzzled.

You might status the phone to make sure that send all calls somehow is not on. :)

Avaya partner acs

Are these call from the outside? If so, it sounds like the Night Service is turned on. If not and these are extension calls then the Do Not Disturb is probably on.

I have the Avaya partner voice messaging and the mailboxes have been set up but when the phone rings twice it goes to fax not voice messaging. How can I fix this

Your voice mail extensions are programmed incorrectly in the system. You need to enter the System Programming mode from Ext 10 or 11 and use #607 to set the correct voicemail extensions.

I have a Avaya 2410 corded phone connected to a plantronics cordless receiver. When someone calls me it rings once and stops, and the call immediately goes to my voice mail. This is something that just...

Everything I have read on the voice mail problem refers to resetting that feature on the phone (the headset is just an innocent bystander). If you don't have the manual, you can contact Avaya for assistance.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

Number of rings

Sounds like you have either send all calls (SAC) enabled or your station is call forwarded to voicemail.

Disabling send all calls or call forward (as applicable) will solve the problem.

VOICEMAIL

This is all programmed in the phone system settings. Your phone can be used on different Avaya phone systems (AT&T, Lucent is Avaya now) and you can also have different voice mail systems. They all program differently.

Sounds like your phone port is not programmed to use voice mail. You can have your phone port programmed to do many different things if nobody answers. Mostly you have the call transfered to another station after so many rings. That other station (extension) could be the operator, a calling group, a voice mail box, etc... Some systems allow you to change the number of rings on a per-phone basis, others only have one no-answer timer for all calls.

You can get all the manuals from www.avaya.com for free but you need to know which system and version you have first. Programming can get very complicated and you may find it easier to hire a local phone installation company that is familiar with your system to do the changes for you.

Phone Doesn't Ring Long Enough Before Going To VM

The phone you have can be used on different Avaya phone systems that program differently. It is certainly something that can be changed but you would need to know which system you have first. There is a call-forward no answer timer that send the call to another station or voice mail box etc.. after so many seconds. That is what needs to be changed.

All the manuals are available at www.avaya.com but again, you would need to know which system you have before looking for the manual.
