Depending on where the date is, you may be able to crop it out of the picture. Also, Photoshop Elements can remove things like this like magic!

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If that doesn't do it, try a different card.
