Remote Controll works inconsistently

The Satellite functionality on my remote works off and on. Works if I hold it directly next to the IR port on the Satellite receiver. I've had the same box w/ same tv in past and never had a problem.

Have you replaced the batteries in the remote with newones? If you have, you may have IR interference from some source in yourroom. It could be from a florescent lamp, another player, or even the TV. Isthe receiver in an open space or in an enclosed area? The IR sensor needs adirect line of sight to work properly. You may also check the receiver ifanything is obstructing the sensors, maybe dust. I hope this helps.

HP TSGH-IR02 Remote Control how to install

This document pertains to HP Media Center computers with Windows XP, Media Center Edition.Use this document when the remote control does not work correctly with the Media Center software.Troubleshooting the remote controlUse the following items to troubleshoot when the remote control does not respond or when the remote control does not work properly. For example, when a key is pressed the selection moves all the way to the top or bottom of a list, or moves a selection many different places instead of the item you were trying to select. Before attempting these steps, make sure that PC has been updated with all of the latest Windows updates. Many updates for Media Center, like Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver, can be downloaded easily through the Windows Update software Tool.
Make sure that the batteries for the remote control are installed correctly and charged.Make sure that the front of the remote sensor is unobstructed, within a 45-degree range, and is less than 26 feet (8 meters) away. Disconnect all devices that use a USB connection except to the receiver, keyboard, and mouse. Restart the PC, and then try the remote again. If a pressed button repeats itself (sticks), unplug the IR receiver from its USB connection, wait one minute, and plug in the IR receiver. If the pressed buttons continue to repeat, alter the lighting conditions in the room or move the location of the IR receiver. Other remotes and HP Media Center PCs within range can also cause this issue.Try pressing the Enter key on the remote after changing a channel. If the remote control works when using the media center software, but does not work when changing the television channels, re-configure the Media Center software settings for the cable set-top box or satellite receiver
Point the remote control towards the IR receiver and press a button. A faint red light should appear on the IR receiver. If the light appears, then the problem is probably in the software that is using the remote control (most likely the configuration of the Media Center software). Close the software, restart the computer, and then re-open the software to solve this issue.

Troubleshooting the IR receiverThe IR receiver is the small device that receives the signals sent by the remote control. Use the following steps to test and reset the IR receiver.Disconnect the IR receiver from its USB port on the computer, maximize the Media Center window if it is open, and then reconnect the IR receiver. Test again.Point the remote control towards the IR receiver and press a button. A faint red light should appear on the IR receiver. If the light appears, then the problem is probably in the software that is using the IR receiver (most likely the Media Center software). Close the software, restart the computer, and then re-open the software to solve this issue.Click Start , right-click My Computer , and then select Properties .Click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.Click the plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If the eHome Infrared Receiver is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers, Windows is properly detecting the IR receiver. If eHome Infrared Receiver is not in the list, or there is an exclamation mark or a question mark on the device, perform the following until eHome Infrared Receiver appears correct in Device manager:Unplug the end of the USB cable on the IR receiver from the computer and plug it into the same USB port.Plug the end of the USB cable on the IR receiver into the front USB port on the computer.Disconnect all other USB devices, leave the IR receiver plugged in, and then restart the computer. Plug in other USB devices after the IR receiver shows up in device manager.Figure 1: IR receiver listing in Device Manager

Emerson Jumbo Universal Remote won't program Direct TV receiver.

Have you tried doing this:
Press and hold the TV button on the remote till all 4 buttons light up and flash(make sure your TV is on). Once they flash, press the power button, then using the channel up button, point the remote at the TV and keep pressing it till the TV turns off. When it does, press the # sign and that will lock in the new found code.

Hey mpabon0712,

You can definitely reprogram your remote, though I am unsure if you are referring to the satellite or the TV. I will provide you steps for both just to make sure. If you need any help with the steps or codes you can also check out this link for more information:

http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-setup

Addressing Remote to Receiver:

1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Test remote and see if works.

Addressing Remote to TV:

1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Hope that helps and feel free to ask if you have anymore questions!

I can turn on tv but not other functions

Hello, Tommy Faust with DISH Network here. I'm sorry your remote is having problems, but would be happy to help.

First make sure the remote is in satellite mode, and see if any functions return. If they don't then take the remote to your main tv and access the system information screen. Press the record button 3 times and retry remote and see if it works.

Hope this helped! Feel free to post back if you still require assistance.

Dish IR Remote 20.0 has problems after sunset.

The problem for me was the TV giving off IR signals that interfered with DISH's poorly designed remote. When the TV's room ambient light sensor was turned on and it became dusk outside the DISH remote would stop working. Moving the receiver away from the TV helps but the problem is not eliminated until the light sensor is turned off.
Until DISH corrects this poor design there may be no other viable solution.

My IR remote no longer works in another room

Dawn,
If you want a remote that works via IR to control the satellite receiver you will need a IR only. The IR/UHF type only transmits signals to the receiver by UHF and the IR portion only operates the peripherals in the room such as the TV and VCR. There are some remotes that come with a kit that can change the remote to work as an IR only. I believe you have a TV2 remote and want it to work further away from the receiver particularly the room the TV is in. If this is the case you may have have to change the remote address of the new remote to match that of the old. You can do this by taking the number one remote and pressing menu-menu. Now take the new remote and press and hold the SAT button in the upper left of the remote until all lights across the top light up. Now key in the two digit number on the tv screen at remote address for tv2. Then press the pound sign and the SAT button will flash three times then press the record button and the TV2 icon should flash. Now you can cancell out of the screen on tv one and try the remote at the TV2 location. I believe this will fix your issue if not let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

3.1 IR Dish remote doen't work right

I would suggest to open the remote and clean the contacts very gentle using rubbing alcohol. If the cleaning does not work, it means the remote keypad is not longer functional.
