I have a Dodge Caravan 2001 SE. Had the Avital 4103 installed. My question is, before installation i had a Chrysler car alarm in the van. When the remote start was installed they removed the alarm.
The shut down toggle switch was not installed, also the push button valet switch was not installed also. Is this a correct installation, I was told that I did not need the last two items to be installed.
What type of vehicle is it installed in? Several cars will do that if they installer did not also interface with the key sense wire.
If your Avital starts randomly then most likely it is a simple fix. First off, is it set for tach mode? If so, try setting the tach learn at a higher rpm. You can do this by slightly revving the engine (try around 1000-1200 rpm) when you teach it the tach mode. If you are getting the tach signal at a coil pack then try moving it to the neg pulse of a fuel injector (typically this works better than the actual tach wire). If it still starts randomly (common on Ford V6 engines) then set it for voltage sense and try .08 second crank time. Depending on how well your car is tuned you might need to shorten or extend the crank time.
