We receive satelite tv through dish and digibox. We used to subscribe to Sky but for about 5 years have not and watch tv via the digibox supplied by Sky. All was well until this morning when we switched on. Now all we are getting is the 'searching for listings, please wait' screen. Any idea what may have happened.I have checked all connections are ok.

Try unpluging from the mains for about 2 mins,if still a problem then the LNB on the dish may be at fault

Wil my tv work with out remote

There are quite a few ways to connect cable box, DVD, receiver and TV together. At a minimum---Connections between DVD and a/v receiver: For Audio, either digital coaxial, digital optical or simple RCA (CABLE ONE); If you did not use RCA you need to connect Video with either component or s-video (CABLE TWO). For connection between a/v receiver and TV: either component, s-video or RCA (CABLE THREE) You did not mention how your cable (or sattelite) box is connected. You could use same set-up as between DVD and a/v receiver for another one or two cables depending on set-up used.connecting the speaker wires of an RCA TV to an amplifier: The signal that is fed to the speakers is not designed to be fed to the line-level inputs of your amplifier. You'd need some kind of conversion and I can't tell you exactly what that would be.

Get some double-screened satellite cable and fit a female TV plug to it (or a male plug with an adapter). Connect it to RF Output 2 at the rear of your Digibox. Fit a TV plug to the other end and plug it into your TV.

Temporarily disconnect the aerial feed from the Digibox aerial socket. Switch the Digibox on to get a picture on your main TV. The Sky Digibox normally sends its signal out on UHF channel 68 so go to the second TV and tune it to 68 (or tune it till it finds the Sky picture).

Now plug the aerial cable back into the Digibox. If there is now interference on the Sky picture on the second TV (or on the terrestrial channels) your Sky signal on 68 is causing interference. Press [services] 401 [select]* and set the RF output to a different UHF channel number. You need to connect it via a Scart lead on your main TV in order to see the menu.

*In the new EPG (April 2009) it's [services] 001 [select]

Try each RF output channel number in turn (21 - 69) and retune the second TV until you get clean pictures on the terrestrial channels and the Sky channel. Also check the picture from the VCR (if connected).

This is just a brief overview. If you need a real in-depth explanation you should read the "Piping TV Around the House" Ebook by satcure.

How do you tune in tv channels when you only have a signal input from a satelite dish and no sky decoder. TV is a sharp lc-32l400x with built in freeview. Can we plug dish straight into TV aerial port...

You require a satelite decoder/receiver for your dish and an aerial for your TV.
The choice is yours. Plug a satelite receiver, for freesat, into the A/V input on the TV or have an aerial installed for freeview.

How to fix sky if it is saying no No satellite signal is being received

There are too many possibilities for this to list them all, however the first places to check would be the cable between the LNB receiver and your Sky digibox - and the dish itself.

You really need to provide more details . . .

1. Is this a permanent fault or do you sometimes receive transmissions?
2. Does this happen mostly during bad weather?
3. Are there any new or extended buildings adjacent to your house?

First, unscrew the co-ax cable at the back of your Sky box and inspect it visually. Make sure the cable is properly inserted into the F-plug and it's tight. If it's ok, screw it back on to the Sky box.

Next, you need to check the dish end of the cable. Make sure the connection to the LNB is tight, the cable is correctly inserted into the plug, and the connection is waterproof - there should be a rubber "boot" covering the connector.

Finally, check your dish is 100% SECURE AND RIGID. If the bracket or bolts are loose, it's likely that your dish has become misaligned.

Try these simple tests first and if everything checks out, please post back providing the details I requested above.

I had a customer with the same problem recently. It was caused by his neighbour's new extension shadowing his dish!

Stopped receiving sky on second tv - does my samsung need a reset

I install a lot of magic eyes etc.

You have checked that the magic eye lights up when it is connected directly into the sky box. So your eye is working correctly.

the next step I would take is with your sky remote in your main room. press SERVICES, 4, 0,1, SELECT go to RF settings and check the rf channel and make sure the power is on. Take a mental note of the channel number.

Now go into the room where the link is feeding. Turn on the TV and go to channel number 6 press your MENU button and then go down to setup. go across to manual install and then down to the channel number type in what you retrieved from you box ie rf channel and then type it in and STORE.

If you go into your main room and just put the normal tv guide on ie blue screen. then check that your getting the sky into the other room. IF you are then great it just needed tuning in. IF not I would remake the coax connectors. as there may be a bit of copper braid touching the centre core. once this is done your sky should be on all you need to do now is put the eye back on. Once you have done this the red light should appear on your magic eye. if not go to your main box and follow the first instructions I gave you and turn the power off on the RF and then save and then go back in and turn it back on and save.

Hope this sorts out your problem

Cheers

Can i hook up to my satelite dish direct or do i have to go thru my receiver first. Thanks; Delmar [email protected]

The satelite dish will not pass-through the video/audio from your DVD player. You will need to find an open area (preferably DVD selector) on your receiver to input the DVD video/audio. Most satelite boxes are one way devices.

Satelite box --> Receiver (satelite input)--> TV
DVD Player --> Receiver (DVD Player input) --> TV

or

Satelite box --> TV
DVD Player --> TV
