Check both the POWER and the DATA cables between the motherboard and the HDD (Hard Disk Drive).
Remove them, and then re-insert them.

Try connecting the DATA cable to an alternate connector on the motherboard.

Remove the HDD, and connect it to another computer,
to see if the HDD can be detected on that computer.
If not, the HDD is the problem.

Check the BIOS configuration, does it detect the hard drive?
If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it is probably faulty and that is why the hard disk is not detected when the computer boots up.
The hard disk needs to be replaced and Windows needs to be installed on the new hard drive with the computer's device drivers and programs to get a working computer again.

No display after starting, can hear the motor and see cursor but screen is blank

Hi,
I think you HDD not detected. So open bios and see you HDD show or not, if not show then all power off and disconnect hdd cable and change data cable and power cable. Again reconnect and start i hope HDD detected and solve you problem.
Second option is you windows corrupt then this types of message show. lets you check both option solved you problem.

Error sc 870

One possibility:
Address book data stored on the hard
disk was detected as abnormal when it
was accessed from either the
operation panel or the network.
?? Initialize the address book
data (SP5-846-050).
?? Initialize the user information
(SP5-832-006).
?? Replace the HDD.HDD defective

Secondly:
When the machine reaches the Ready condition after boot-up, the operator turns OFF the Main Power
Switch without first pressing the Operation Switch. As a result, the flash memory on the controller board is
damaged, triggering the SC.
SOLUTION:
1. Please be aware of the following:
Before turning off the machine's main power, always make sure that the Operation Switch LED is not
lit or blinking. By turning the Main Power OFF while the LED is still lit or blinking, may cause damage to
the machine's hard disk or memory.

I have a packard bell imedia mc1539 and have done a complete recovery on the system. Now the system will not boot. It keeps saying boot from CD and if I go to the BIOS and change the order it then will...

You'l have to make sure that the HDD is detected as the pc posts. Or, you can verify by going into the BIOS and see if the HDD is detected. Also try and check if the HDD is receiving power. When a computer is first started, the HDD will make this certain noise and initiates when powered. That's just know that the HDD powered up and initiated. So then, if the HDD is receiving power but is not detected in the BIOS, it might be the IDE cable. But in most cases, it's probably a connection issue of either the data cable, or the molex connector. Check it and verify that the HDD is detected. Good Luck.

I have an emachines t6520 and the power sw wire, HDD led wire, and the power led wire hve been disconected

On the system board, on the left edge next to the primary IDE connector, there is a 9 pin header.
I usually get a magnify glass and look down on the header . From right to left, you will see PWR led pins closer to the edge of the motherboard.and the Power BTN next to it.(the side of the pins that has 4 pins on it)
Then on the other side, you will see the pins for the HDLED across from the PWR led. Then the Reset pins across the PWR BTN.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Emachines t2865 power led diagram

The header connections that you are looking for are on the edge of the motherboard near the battery. Look for a group of gold contacts sticking straight up at you. The silkscreen tells you which header are for what light or switch. You will see one that says "PWR LED". Another says "PWR SW" Another says "HDD LED". They are printed very small. You will see others in that vicinity that say "SAST1" and "SPKR". Ignore them.Look along the edge where the battery is mounted some are located around the nearby corner but still along the edge. All should be on the edge nearst the front of your machine. Others may be along the edge facing the bottom of your machine.
