Also check if the power light on your router is blinking. If it is blinking, that's an indication of hardware failure. To revive it, do a hard reset. Press and hold the power button of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power. Wait for 30 seconds again before you plug it back in.

"The WLAN LED lights up whenever there is a successful wireless connection. If the LED is flashing, the Router is actively sending or receiving data over the network."

Blinking light means working network. If you can't go online, that's not the reason.

I suggest cabling your computer directly up to the router in order to determine whether the problem is your wireless connection or your router's outbound internet connection.

First SSID(Service Set IDentifier) is what Identifies your WLAN network. When you add a router, you establish a WLAN. Each item you connect to your router must use the same SSID. You will be asked to make a unique network name, when you set up your router. This will be the SSID of your network. If you go online for you router menu, you should be able to find that information in you configuration menu. NOT to be confused with the IP address of your computer.

Wlan light keeps coming on and off internet connection is unstable

wlan light going on and off is normal that means that there is activity between router and wireless device (computer, smartphone, etc) If you have intermitternt connectivity try this. Unplug router from power, then internet modem from power as well, wait about 30 seconds, reconnect modem, wait about a minute and lastly reconnect router. If this does not solve the issue you may want to call your internet service provider.

Need to redo wireless setup betw linksys & westell

You will need to assign a different ip address to the Westell modem - I am assuming that both the router & modem are using the same ip address 192.168.1.1? If that is the case, then assign 192.168.1.2 to the modem.

The wlan light on the router isn't on

there is a possibility that the wireless broadcast feature of the router is turned off, you can enable this through the setup page of the router on the wireless tab.

if it is enabled on the wireless tab, then you may want to reset the router by pressing the reset button on the router for 20 seconds.now if this still did not work, try to contact Linksys tech support to get a firmware upgrade or discuss the warranty status of the device.

hope this helps

Wireless-G Broadband Router

The WLAN light will normally blink if there is data passing through. Most often if the problem is that you need a reboot for the router to work again you will need to update the firmware of your router. You need to go to www.linksys.com then click on the top right search then look for your model number then select the option to WRT54G downloads. Search for your model and then download the firmware. After that on a computer wired to your router go to http://192.168.1.1 through Internet Explorer. Click on the administration tab then click Choose. Select the file that you downloaded then click on Upgrade. That should fix your problem.
