Does the HP photosmart 2710 scan negative ansd 35mm slides?

This multi function printer/scanner cannot scan 35mm slides and negatives.
Some flat bed scanners with a lighr scource that shines through 35 mm slides and negatives can scan them.
You will be better off getting a dedicated 35 mm slide/negative scanner.
Check out this WEB site foe slide scanners.

How can I use my HP6210 officejet scanner to scan 35 mm slides

You cannot scan slides with this scanner.
Slide scanners need a light source that shines through the slide not a reflecting light like your scanner.

Can i scan negertives 35 mm photos

I looked at the manual and it does not have any references to 35 mm slides scanning.

The manual:

My Epson Perfection 4490 Scanner insists on scanning my 35 mm slides as regular color photos. How can I switch the dscanner to scan my slides as slides?

Of course that is what it will do. The same as ti will do as a negative. Neither can be printed out other than as a picture.

SCANNING SLIDES ON TO PC

Hi svengoransso - it's not clear what your problem is! Yes, you can scan slides onto a PC using a variety of scanning methods. I use both a flat bed scanner with slide attachment, and a dedicated slide scanner. Do a google search for 35 mm slide scanner - you will get lots of info. If you have a more specific problem than this, please post a new comment explaining the problem as clearly as possible.

After scanning one photo slide and storing it on my computer, I can't delete this first scan to scan another

It's not necessary to delete the previous scanned photo. To scan another slide, place it in the scanner and press the PREVIEW button.

Scanned 35mm slide comes out as rectangle with dark edges

I've not ever seen "square" 35mm slides. By definition they are a rectangular positive film in an outer square "mount".

If you have a truly square piece of film then it is not a 35mm slide. You may have to use settings other than those for a 35mm film but these would be I don't know.

When were they taken (approximately)? What brand of film? Are they in a cardboard "mount?

Scanning slides with the Epson Perfection 1250

To be honest, I have no idea of how you were able to scan larger transparencies in the past. The scanner and its software were never designed to do this and there is no workaround.
