Ice accumulating in freezer

I obviously have a leak somewhere from my ice-maker or water dispenser.
Ice cube tray above my ice-cube bin keeps freezing up quickly, no ice is beaing made, and big chunks of ice keep forming all over from run-off of water.

Ice maker is leaking and making huge chunk of ice at the bottom of the ice bin, it's freezing all the ice together

  • Anonymous Mar 18, 2014

Icemaker seams to be leaking water below the ice bin and freezes up then the water drips from the ice dispenser. A sheet of ice forms on the underside of the ice bin and on the bottom of the icemaker housing.

My LG ice maker only fills half of the cube tray and the extra water flows into the ice maker bin creating chunks of ice. Seems like there must be some blockage somewhere. What do you suggest.

There should be a tube that brings water to your icemaker from the back of the fridge into the icemaker. This tube is frozen with water, or the inlet where this tube feed the icemaker tray is frozen. The result is that water cannot go to the ice maker, and instead, goes over the top of the inlet area.

Verify that this is indeed what is going on.

The fix is to remove the blockage/buildup of ice at the inlet. You may have to detach the icemaker to get to it. Be carefull with electricity! Also be carefull as plastic can break under stress!
The tube may be frozen to the inlet, channel locks can be used to gently twist the tube to break it free.
Good Luck!

Thermador T30IF70NSP/10 Ice Maker not working properly

Hi,

please lower the rate of ice being dispensed to see if the problem is overcome or you can lower the temperature of the freezer. I would try each separately and check results before combining the two methods. Thank you.

What can I do to fix my ice maker? My ice maker 12685003 in my Amana refrigerator keeps dispensing water and has a huge peak of ice in the tray. It works fine for awhile making regular cubes then it looks...

Most likely your Ice maker inlet valve is not closing properly and seeping water continuously.

This will lead to frozen ice layer on tray or surrounding area in the freezer. Also this water leak from valve will freeze the water line and stop making ice.

Your inlet water valve need to be changed for your fridge. Amana is made by Whirlpool Corporation. Check with your mode number.

LG ice maker only making two ice cubes at a time

Colenoid in the ice dispenser may be clogged or have a small amount of trash in it. Is there a filter on before the fridge (just after the ice maker shutoff)?

Ice Maker Overflowing

i would recommend changing the water valves as they may be sticking or leaking now you can take the icemaker loose get a small baby bottle short the terminals to cycle water fill catch it with the bottle and see how much water it dumps should be about 4 ounces if the valve leaks will over fill the ice maker over a period of time say the valve is leaking a few drops at a time and the bail arm has the icemaker shut off because its touching ice in the bin but the water just keeps dripping down the fill tube till it runs over did you replace the whole icemaker or just the motor module

Ice Maker Freezing Up and Ice not dispensing

Check your ice cube tray to see if it is warped. Mine was. I took the tray off and dipped it into boiling water and remoulded it to the original shape and re-installed it. So far no problems. The tray gets warped because of the ice cube release mechanism. The tray is rotated around until it meets a block on one corner which creates the twisting motion we used to do on manual trays. Over time it tends to warp the tray. Good luck

My ice freezes together!

Do you mean the ice cubes are too large to be individual cubes and come out as a lump? The water is filled by a timed fill so if the fill solenoid stays open a little and drips water into the cube tray it will have more water than normal. I guess I'm not sure if you mean the ice cubes are stuck together in the tray or are they sticking together in the holding bin area?
