1. Add a password to the 'Administrator' account.
2. Add a password to each "administrator-level" account.
3. Create a "limited-user" account.

Tell the user the ID/password for that "limited" account.
Do _NOT_ tell the user the ID/password for any "admin" accounts.

Do _NOT_ let the user boot the computer from a CD, or from a USB memory-stick.

Do _NOT_ let the user physically remove the hard-drive, and then tamper with the files while it is connected to another computer.

Hi im anthony and i had bought a laptop from a guy and it has k9 web protection on it and im tryn to get it took off can u pleasde help me

there are two methods you can try.
Method 1
If you have the administrator account password for the local computer and the best way to uninstall K9 web filter from the local computer is to re-install it! Re-install k9 web protection will simply get you a new license code and a new password you can enter without the need of old password.
1.Open K9 web protection website 2.Click "get K9 NOW" tab on the top-left 3.Fill out the information and your email. 4.Download the K9 Web protection software from the link included in the email and keep a copy of the license. 5.Grab a version of the K9 web protection installed on your computer, a Google search should do the job. 6.Open "Task Manager" by press (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and end the process K9filter found in the "Process" tab. 7.Now, you can safely delete the K9 web protection program files. Open computer explorer and go to the folder where K9 is originally installed. It can be found mostly at C:\Program Files/Blue Coat k9 Web Protection. 8.Remove the contents of the folder but not the folder. 9.Run the K9 web protection setup/installer file which has the same version as the one you just delete 10.Provide the license and create your new password 11.Point the installation folder to the same folder you just empty the contents earlier on 12.Now you can have a re-installed K9 web protection with a password you know. How do you uninstall K9 web protection now? Use the new password you just created If something goes wrong, install the K9 web protection program downloaded from Step 4.
Method 2
Reboot Windows into safe mode: restart your computer and hold "F8? key until you see the menu to choose "Safe Mode" Login to windows and go to "Program Files" directory and delete the K9 folder manually (delete only the contents but leave the folder) Click "Start"->"Run" and type "msconfig" Check the tab "Services" and tab "Startup" Un-check anything that is related to k9 If somehow this method is messed up, try to download K9 again to at least restore your previous installation. If this still does not work, try to install Revo Uninstaller.

I cannot access my account as it is asking for k9 password

You Have k9 installed and it is blocking your acess to your router page
here's how to disable it

To disable K9 Web Protection, follow these steps:

1. Download the K9 Web Protection Installer for your system (64bit, or 32bit)

2. Let it download, and instead of clicking "Run" Click "Save" and save it to a location of your choosing.

3. Right click your "My Computer" icon, then click "Properties". When that window opens up click on the "Hardware" tab, then click "Device Manager" when the next window opens.

4. Click the "View" tab at the top of the Device Manager, then click "Show Hidden Devices".

5. Then look for "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" and open up that tree. Then find the device called, "bckd". Right click it, and then click "Disable"

6. A message will pop up telling you to reboot your PC, do so.

7. After it boots up, there should be a message down in the right corner saying "K9 Web Protection has become Corrupted" or something similar. This is good :).

8. Before you can surf the internet, go to wherever you saved the K9 Installer from steps 1 and 2, and run the installer.

9. It should just pop up with a message asking you to update K9 web protection, click "Yes" and for the next message that pops up, click "Ok"

10. Wait a little bit, and then you can go to any Website and acess your router page

11. To re-enable K9 Web Protection, just go back to the device manager and re-enable "bckd".

I found this on superuser link at the bottom.
No third party software required. Tested with K9 Web Protection version 4.4.268 on Windows Vista SP2 (32-bit). Confirmed by @stiemannkj1 to be working on Windows 7. Should also work on Windows 8.x.
  1. Create a new text file. Copy and paste the following batch script code, then save:@echo off set keys=^ "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Blue Coat Systems"^ "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\k9filter.exe"^ "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection"^ "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bckd"^ "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bckwfs" REM remove registry keys for %%G in (%keys%) do reg delete "%%~G" /f >nul set folders=^ "%programfiles%\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection"^ "%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Blue Coat K9 Web Protection" REM remove folders for %%G in (%folders%) do rd /s /q "%%~G" set files=^ "%windir%\System32\drivers\bckd.sys" REM remove files for %%G in (%files%) do del "%%~G" pause exit /b
  2. Make sure file extensions are shown and rename it to RemoveK9.cmd (or whatever you like, as long as it has the .cmd extension).
  3. Restart Windows in Safe Mode.
  4. Right-click the .cmd file and select Run as administrator from the context menu. Wait for the batch script to finish.
  5. Start regedit.exe and navigate to the following registry key:
<code>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_BCKD Right-click the LEGACY_BCKD key and select Permissions from the context menu. Click Advanced and select the Owner tab. Then select Administrators from the owner list, tick the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects option, and then click OK. Then select Everyone and tick the Allow checkbox for the Full Control permission. Click OK, right-click the key and finally choose Delete.

  6. Restart Windows.

How to uninstall blue coat k9 without administrator password?

Hi ,

I have two solutions for your problem

Solution 1 :
  • First disable the Bluecoat service from the Windows Service Control Manager.
  • Remove the file bckd.sys under Windows system32 drivers directory.
  • Reboot your system
If the above solution is not successful ,please try the next

Solution 2 :
  • When you turn on your computer press F8 to go into safe mode.
  • From there you can search the web for face book and youtube and the others you want.
  • You can also go into my computer and uninstall K9 and If you don't know the password then just by pass it with win rar, you can download win rar from google.
  • Just type in "download winrar". once you are done downloading winrar you need a K9 code and you can find that through bit torrent .

Wishing success.
