Clayton, a small crack say 2-3 inches may be fixable by glass shops injecting a filler. If about 6 inches, replace the windshield because it will get larger and unsafe. Yes it will cost you insurance deductible but that's life. My windshield was cracked 6 inches by a golf ball, can you imagine? Had to change.
1. When there are cracks in the dome. 2. When fluid levels are low, creating a bubble or fluid is all together empty. 3. The dial or card is discolored or yellow. 4. When the dial begins to stick * follow these steps to test dial......... While dockside take note of the compass heading. Hold any magnetic object to the compass so that the original heading is deflected about 10degrees. Remove that object, and see if the dial returns to it's original heading. Repeat this several times deflecting the compass to both sides.

It's tempered glass so it can handle the extreme to a point unless you live in the south pole. A crack will always happen if not immediately when a solid object hits the tempered glass. Characteristic of tempered glass is that once it's gone through it's tempering process cannot be cut or gouged for fitment adjustment because it will always crack rendering useless. Unlike untempered glass you can gouge and cut it as many times to fit it in place.
What it means is when ever a tempered glass gets dinged hard enough to gouge it, it will most certainly crack. But for a crack to happen without a gouge because of temperature changes are unlikely because of the tempering process will withstand this changes except subjecting it to a fire above it's flash point.
Any dive shop worth their salt will be stocking all the major brands, Mares among them. It's possible the bezel can be repaired if there are no leaks or cracks in the compass body. Send it back to them and get an estimate to see if it's worth repairing or replacing.
A small crack, turns into a big crack, Short of ordering a new piece of glass, there is no "fix" sorry. YOu can continue to use it, but eventually it will run across the cook top, and then shatter the glass... Better be safe than sorry.
These binoculars work on the Galilean principle in that they are just lenses. No prisms. These folding types were made as opera glasses. The addition of the compass is a gimmick added and such units were sold as cheap touring or travel binoculars. These types were popular in tourist locations. France at one point had a significant optical industry mainly producing opera and Galilean field glasses with the exception of Huet and Krauss who made prism binoculars.
An interesting but cheap collectable.
