I’m an owner of the machine and know it quite well. If the One-Way roller clutches in the clutch pulley hub and the upper roller clutch assembly (if your series use’s it) can be cleaned up and re-lubed you can be back in service today. See this post Clutch Fix. My roller clutches failed at the 3.5yr mark Dec 08 causing dc/UC errors for any size load. I cleaned up and re-lubed and it worked fine. I replaced the clutch to try this clutch assembly back in Feb 08 25001169 to see if it would work it does and I recommend it to all owners for your and mine FAV6800AW and the LCD flavor of this machine the FAV9800AW. The clutch will work for all series of those machines. If you have basic mechanical skills and want to save money try to clean up the roller clutches and re-lube or replace for $60. If you call in a repair service I think you will be in the $300 range to repair. I have changed my nickname from dh1200s to FAV9800AWDIY I have many postings on the clutch subject at this site and Fixitnow.com where my Clutch Fix posting has been posted for these machines.
Good Luck and post back if you need help to DIY. …. Rich

harrscot,
Thank you for the testimonial I hope you can give it a try it's a bit of tight work area but it can be done by many folks that want to roll up their sleeves and give it a try and save some $big money$. I almost junked the machine and then common sense kicked in….. $1K machine 3.5 years old. I began my education on the machine, anyone with basic skill sets can do this. I will offer to help speed up the learning process.
This machine also suffers from Left Lid Lock corrosion issues. You will see OP,OD,FA, LO error codes down the road. The DIY’er can handle these issues also. The Left Hand Lid Lock troubleshooting is for all of those error codes, here is a heads up of possible issue down the road.

Also become familiar with entering into service mode and reading the diagnostic code blocks. So many posters to the FAV6800AW don’t post the machine model type or error code observed. You are on the ball. It’s a pleasure to help forum members such as you with solid info.
I forgot to post these links for you.

Wow 57 varieties we are right in sync, what are the odds?

joepereira Good job !!! Call a DIY’er ASAP and save a BIG $. I feel bad for folks that pay out $300 to $400 for clutch a repair. I had the WD-40 and bearing grease on hand so it was hard to put a cost estimate on it. $5 maybe $10 max. If you ever have to replace the clutch as I mentioned this Clutch will work for all series FAV6800AW and FAV9800AW. Again hats off to ya. Thumbs up to ya.

I removed the lower clutch with the bearings cleaned them and greased the bearings. With the front and top covers off, I put the machine in spin mode and all seemed to work great. So I closed everything back up, replugged the machine in and started a small load in quick wash.. YAHOO IT WORKED GREAT!!! I saved a ton of cash and no one was needed to come help. Yes, its tight quarters to work in so be prepared to put something down over the lower sheet metal it might cut your arms... Joe
The DC & UC errors indicate that there is a a clutch malfunction. The machine shuts down and will do nothing while these errors exist and shows that the Tub Displacement Sensor is working as designed.
The Clutch Assembly malfunction is usually corrected by replacing the clutch assembly and there is no work around for this problem.
Call a repair man to do the work asap.
