Are the dots appearing in diagonal lines or randoml across the screen? This would suggest to me either a loose connection in your cable or the screen is faulty and will need replacing. Sorry for the bad news

My monitor fell on the floor and now my color is off. the color is darker on the left of the screen. Do I need a new monitor now?

I suggest you to buy a new monitor because it will be expensive to replace the LCD. You monitor LCD is damage that is reason why there is a dark color on the left screen.
To avoid any harmful accident in the future. Because it will create electrical spark inside the monitor which will be burn out the entire monitor or maybe result to smoke. There is no remedy in that particular trouble but to replace the entire LCD. But this is not advisable because it will cause you expensive cost of repair.
You need to buy new monitor and I suggest if you buy new monitor. Buy LED monitor which is better than LCD. LED monitor is a green campaign of every manufacturer due to energy saving specification and have a better graphics than LCD...
Hope this will help you a lot. If you any other question please don't hesitate to contact me

The screen has a dark green tint and cannot be adjusted. More specifically, the green section of the RGB setting on the monitor can't be changed (the G setting is permanently gray and I cannot move to that...

Take it in for repair seems to me that you have done all that you could to fix this monitor it is a flat maybe worth the repair if the repair is slightly less or more I would consider spending the green on a new one they are getting down in price. Thanks for using FixYa! John

What does it mean by dead cells?

I assume this is related to your LCD monitor.
I think you mean dead pixels. The LCD monitor has tiny pixel elements, one for each red, blue, green color and each one of these colored pixels are turnes on by a transistor. When a transistor fails then the colored pixel it controls does not light up. This is a dead pixel and it shows up as a tiny black dot.
If the screen displays a blue screen, a dead blue pixel will appear as a tiny black dot in the blue screen.
You normally would not notice a few dead pixels unless they are grouped together.

Screen blacks out, but power light stays green. I can repress the power button and it will come on for a short while

Power supply, replace the caps, 220uf,470uf,680uf. you will see the tops of them are popped out, check the board too see if its turning color from the surface mount transistors that drive the lamps..If its turn an very dark color the parts have been very stressed out..

Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several

If these are single pixels on the LCD screen, they are normal. From pg. 8 of the user's guide:

"The LCD monitor is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD monitor. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the images in any way. "

This may also be helpful.

"images may trail across the LCD monitor in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. When turning on the camera in a cold location, the LCD monitor may become temporarily dark. "
