Can someone give me some insight on why the sound just stopped and that was it. Is it a circuit board or a diode. If anyone has had their Protron TV repaired, how much did it cost to have it fixed.

This sounds like you accidentally hit the input button on your remote. It will either be INPUT or SOURCE on you remote. Turn on your TV and source(cable box) and hit one of those buttons until your picture comes back
Try pressing all the buttons on the remote simultaneously-this will reset the remote & then program the remote to the TV. You can also try and power cycle the TV by unplugging the TV from the wall for a minute, then plugging it back in & power it on. Restore any changed system settings to factory defaults.
Try changing the cable. Is it a red and white composite audio cable or an hdmi cable? Try resetting the tv to the factory preset values. On the tv remote press the menu button and scroll over to setup. Scroll down to reset and press enter. Select yes then press enter. Select yes again then press enter. Then after the tv restarts go back to the correct input. I do recommend trying another set of cables if jiggling them did cause the sound to come back once before.
Resetting the TV If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:
NOTE: Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time. 1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet. 2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...) 3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds. 4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV. 5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again. 6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices. 7. Turn on the TV.
Ok I just dealt with the Sharp customer support for this problem.
1) You need to unplug the TV for 1 full minute and remove the batteries from your remote aswell (this will reset the system) 2) Hold the power button on the remote for 30 seconds with the batteries still out of the remote and the TV still unplugged 3) After the 30 seconds replace batteries then press every button on the remote beginning with the power button in order from left to right and top to bottom (same way you read) 4) Then plug your tv back in and try the remote again.... and the remote and TV should be back in sync.
