I went to one of the HP forums and there was a solution. I tried it and it worked. I believe the forum was through this site and was free.

Can't print on transparency film

In order to print on transparency film from a HP8600 all you have to do is load the paper rough side down with the white border going into the tray toward the back of the printer so that you can not see it when you look into the paper tray. The HP 8600 will auto-adjust for the film, that is why you do not have the option to select transparency like you did in the HP 8500

HOW DO I CHANGE PAPER SIZE FOR PROJECT??

are you asking how to load different size paper? or how to make your printer recognize what type of paper to use now that you are ready to print?

Normally specialty paper can be form fed in the back of printer (depending on what type you have). If you have no problem loading the paper, your program that you've designed your project in should control the print size. Try going to the advance options on the program you're using when you ask it to print. Also, use the print preview to make sure it has the right size paper.

Paper won't feed through printer. (Lexmark X2690). Can't see anything stuck in printer. Paper won't go down past rollers, but I can't see down inside etc

Loading paper and original documents
1. Make sure:
• You use paper designed for inkjet printers.
• If you are using photo, glossy, or heavyweight matte paper, you load it with the glossy or printable side facing you. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side, see the instructions that came with the paper.)
• The paper is not used or damaged.
• If you are using specialty paper, you follow the instructions that came with it.
• You do not force paper into the printer.

2. Before loading paper the first time, slide the paper guides out toward the edges of the paper support.
3. Load the paper vertically in the center of the paper support, and adjust the paper guides to rest against the edges of the paper.

PHOTO paper

The HP printer was prepared to use HP's photo paper to print borderless pictures among other things.
If you use a third party photo paper, try using A4 size, position the picture in the paper using MS Word or another WYSIWYG program and, after printing, cut the picture in the right size.
