I need help with electric wheel chair batteries for a Pronto M91

I am disabled and unfortunately I do not have Medicare Part B because I cannot afford it. I was given a Pronto M91 electric wheel chair from a lady that knew my situstion. I have a problem with it, now the batteries will not hold a charge. The lights came on at first but flickered and now nothing. I will be having 3 surgies soon and need my wheel chair to get back and forth to the different doctors and surgeons offices. I do not have the money to purchase more batteries because my family is trying to get by on my SSDisability check ($668 per month) and I don't know how to get batteries for it. Can anyone help me?

What does 7 times flashing mean is wrong on pronto m91

Hello,

Seven blinks is most often the joystick. A Invacare Remote Programmer can be plugged in to the joystick to verify this.

Brakes wont unlock

if you put pressure on the chair in one direction or the other while trying to disable the brakes it will make it difficult to move the lever.

Randal the problem sounds like a battery issue. If after charging you get a green light on the charger and the batteries run down quickly there is one or both of the batteries that is weak and cannot handle the load required by the motors. If Medicare paid for your chair contact the provider that sold you your chair and ask them to come replace the batteries. They should then bill Medicare for the batteries. Hope this helps

imwaltz Sorry buddy but if it sat that long the batteries are probably too low for the charger to pick up and charge. to bad you didn't just charge those batteries once a month while you were laid up. You will have to get new batteries. If Medicare paid for your chair they will pay for most of the repair costs. Contact Repair Xpress @ 1-877-581-3733 or Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 these are 2 excellent service companies that will bill Medicare for repair and have a tech repair the chair for you. Hope this helps

The battery will not hold a charge for very long does this mean the batteries are bad

Bronnaf Well probably. How old are the batteries? If they are 2 years old or older yes I would say they are bad. If you have not any problems before and then I'll assume the charger has been working and still getting a full charge but the lights fall off quicker than before Yes you need new batteries. Now Did Medicare pay for your chair? If they did then they will pay most of the repair costs. You can contact a repair service and they will fix your chair then bill Medicare You would have to pay any deductible that Medicare doesn't pay. Well if Medicare purchased your chair and it is 5 years or older you are eligible for a new chair. The problem with your chair besides batteries is a leaking plug on your gearbox attached to the motor. These cannot be fixed so it requires a new motor/gearbox assembly. Just as soon get a new chair because Medicare won't want to pay the costs of repair when you can get another chair. Hope this helps

One red light three green flash when turned on

Your chair has a motor problem. The code does not tell which side it is. Make sure both motors have the brakes in the drive position before turning on the chair. Also check that both motors are plugged into the main control module in the base of the chair.

Can't charge Pronto M91.

Hi Bob. Unfortunately in most cases this means that the batteries have gone so flat that they cannot be “revived”. The best thing to do is take the batteries to a local battery dealer and have them checked. You may need to replace them. Another possibility is that because the batteries are so flat, the charging circuit hit a wobbly trying to resuscitate them and popped a fuse button. A simple reset may help. Happy scooting.
