click on start > control panel> find "internet options"> go to the advanced Tab> click on the button that says RESET or Restore defaults(if Reset button is unavailable). resart ur computer>

on the yahoo messenger window, before you sign in, click messenger then connection preferences. it should be on no proxies.

this applies if you installed it on your personal computer and not in a computer connected to a network IE. office network or school network because you will need a proxy for those.
