GE Profile PK916, Convc. elements stays on high

I have a GE Profile single wall oven PK916. One day while baking I hit convection button and heard pop. Now if I keep breaker on ovens convection elements heats up super high and never goes off. COntrol panel seems to function properly as far as setting time, turning off/on regular oven. Or setting convection on/off on screen. But the actual elements just stays on and is non-responsive even to celar/reset.

Repairman came out and said whole controller needs replacement. Could it just be a ceramic fuse or switch that is damaged and just replaced by me?

Ge profile microwave/convection oven. Do you need to remove glass turntable when in the bake mode. What does cook mean on sensor cooking? What is display speed in the clock mode? Thanks

Hello, Jacque -

GE provides a website which offers owner's manuals. This is the link: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/literature.htm . You will need to enter the model number for your microwave/convection oven to find, save, and print the manual.

Best wishes.

What is convection cookong

A convection microwave is a combination of a standard microwave oven and a convection oven. It allows food cooked in the convection microwave to be cooked quickly, yet come out browned or crisped as in a convection oven. However, most cakes cannot be baked in a microwave oven - only those without an open grain structure, such as brownies. There are microwaves which contain electric browning baking elements. A true convection microwave has a high velocity forced air fan to circulate the hot air uniformly.

I need the manual of my haas microwave oven HMW 43 W I want to know can i bake in my oven or not

m/w do not bake they heat up water molecules in the items that you put in them . unless it is a m/w, convection oven that has a heating element and a convection fan in addition to m/w components in it usually a metal fan visible protruding from back of inside the cavity. also m/w , convection ovens are ether over the range or together with convection oven in the wall combos and cost quite a bit more then counter top. $250 +

My GE Profile JVM1790 convection microwave has issue. Was using the convection portion when a small spark and flame appeared and then went out and soot and smoke was all inside and now will not heat up...

Yep, that sounds very much like the heating element burned out. It happens. You should be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer's website... or there may be a list of repair centers in the manual - pick one & try to order the heating element through them.

If the control circuit board is clean with no signs of grease or moisture deposits, it's almost always the membrane keypad.

GE Profile jvm1090ww 01 SN ZR958136 s Convection temperature does not get above 360F when set at 450F. Could never brown meat or bake.

The convection heater is control according to the temperature of the part n 3014 Thermister
Part Number: AP2025611 made by GE

So this is acting like a temperature sensor and it seem that is giving wrong indication to the control panel and switch off the heater at wrong temperature.

So you should replace the thermister.

You can find this and all a other parts of your oven in this link.

Ge convection micro combination has a problem with convection fan . fan runs for about 5 seconds, rattles, then stops. heat element gets red hot but little heat inide oven. replace fan motor or maybe more?...

I would say the convection fan blade is loose on the shaft.

If this is the case, it would try to run, but no cooling would take place, so the heat from the heating element would get very high but it would not be distributed through the oven.

The thermistor would then detect the extra high heat and stop it, I assume.

You may be able to use super glue or JB Weld to fix the blade on the shaft, as long as they are clean and dry and it is allowed to set overnight.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Accessing these components for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Unit Electrical Problem

If it blows the fuse as soon as you hit the START button, it's almost certainly a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it blows a few seconds after you hit the START button, it's probably the high-voltage transformer. You'll possibly also smell a faint electrical burning smell from the rear vent after you shut if off.

Microwave can be very dangerous so it is best to have it looked by a professional

Would appreciate a solved rating for expert advise.
