To place the handset in silent / vibrate mode follow the steps below: To place the handset in Silent Mode, hold down the pound key (#) for about 2 seconds. To exit Silent Mode, perform the same action while in Silent Mode. You will see a confirmation message for Silent Mode, each time you enter or exit Silent Mode. The phone will vibrate rather than ring when you receive a phone call, message or alert while in silent / vibrate mode.

Most Samsungs can be toggled in and out of silent mode by pressing and holding the '# key'. Otherwise you have to change it in the profiles section in your main menu.
Hope that helps?
