SOURCE: HP Photosmart M407 Digicam

The issue is probably the button board on the camera. To open the camera, remove the six screws and pry open the camera from the bottom of the camera to remove the outer casing. Turn the camera so that the LCD is facing. Remove the aluminum frame around the LCD that holds the button board in place. Check the button board for mis-aligned or damaged discs (ie playback or view buttons) The discs are taped and may creep out of position. If they are out of position, push them back with the blunt edge of a screw-driver. If it looks fine, reassemble the camera.

SOURCE: Please let me know how I cAN ORDER the battery

Look in your owners manual and there should be a part section that gives the part numbers. After finding the part you can do a internet search on that part number, and it should bring it up.

Battery won't charge on my HP photosmart M407. Batteries are new. What else might be wrong?

It could be something wrong with the power board. If you have an external charger to charge the batteries. After fully charged tried to take as many pictures as you can. If the battery discharge fast, that mean something is wrong with the power board.

How much will it cost me for a replacement screen?

Comes around $25 at a service center. Suggest you buy a broken M407 with a good screen from ebay (or etc) and try fixing it yourself. Even I had experienced the same ended in paying lot of money. This camera does not worth spending so much. Or suggest invest in a new DC. Jimmy, Bangalore

HP407 screen cracked

You need a replacement screen.
You can find a broken M407 with a good LCD on Ebay for pretty cheap. (I picked up one for $20 shipped).
From there, it's a matter of taking out the 6 screws (very small Phillips screwdriver) that hold the camera housing on, the 2 screws that secure the LCD retaining ring on, pulling the LCD out of its mount, and gently pulling the LCD ribbon down and out of the white connector (mounted on the camera's board).
Reverse to reassemble.
Gentleness and patience is key, you're dealing with sensitive electronics here.
Even someone with little mechanical aptitude can do it, I'd say 30 mins tops to swap screens out of 2 cameras.
Before you buy an Ebay camera, try taking yours apart first to make sure you can do it, or find a family member or friend who's up to the task.
These cameras are not worth that much now. It's not worth paying a shop to do it. If you don't get a deal on an Ebay parts camera and do it yourself, you should invest in a new camera.
