How to reset Motorolas HS850 bluetooth headset (quit working with my LG Lotus after a few months)

  • 2 more comments

I tried holding the buttons with the boom closed. That didn't work so I tried it with the boom open and the bluetooth deviced beeped. But, it still searches and doesn't find anything.

My LG Lotus says that it is paired, but if I put on the bluetooth, it doesn't work.

This is an HS850, not an 820, but I have tried your solution 4 times and my phone does not find the device. I have let the bluetooth drain, recharged and tried also - to no avail.

I have a Motorola HS850 bluetooth headset that I set up with no problem about 2 months ago when I changed to a LG Lotus cell phone. For that past few weeks, the Motorola doesn't connect with my phone. I have had suggestions from your site as to how to rest the Motorola, but after doing the things suggested, it still doesn't pair with the LG Lotus. The LG Lotus seems to be set up OK.
I have let the Motorola run down its power to reset it, to no avail.

I have done all these things.

How to place a Motorola HS 850 bluetooth headset into paring mode:

  1. Close the boom to turn the unit off.
  2. Hold down the call button until the blue light comes on.
  3. While holding down the call button, swing the boom open.
You'll also need to enter the Lotus' bluetooth utility and have it search for bluetooth devices. If you set a password on the headset, you'll need to enter that password. If you didn't set a password and it asks for one, then the default is usually 0000 or 1234.

The next step would be to isolate the two devices to see which one is having the problem.

If you have another bluetooth headset or possibly another blue tooth enabled phone, try pairing either to your phone or your headset.

If both pair fine with other devices, then it's possible that there is some sort of hardware/software conflict between your devices that has occured since it was working properly.

To reset the Motorola HS820 Bluetooth headset, please connect the accessory to the charger, leave the item connected for 5 seconds, and then disconnect it. You need to repeat this operation 3 times.

hold the button with the boom closed and as soon as the light stops blinking you realease the button and open the boom, the light should remain on and steady. promt your cell phone to find it and the code is 0000

I believe you should be able to reset the headset by pressing the volume key and the power key pressing simultaneously for 5-10 seconds and it should erase the pair memory in the headset. Then repair again by using 0000 (4 zero's) as the passkey

Your headset may also be called a HS850 (may look different) but the instructions would be the same. Instruction manual is here:>>>>>>>

Pairing LG Shine and Bluetooth HS850 unsuccessful

UGH I had such a hard time with this, because it isn't clearly explained.
So here is a solution that should work (it worked for me!):

1. Go to Settings, Bluetooth, and Go to the "Paired Device" menu and leave it open. When it asks to turn BT on, you can do so.
2. This is the part here that screws everyone up. Take the headset and press and hold the multifunction button. KEEP IT HELD DOWN! The light should turn on and stay on. While you are holding it, open the microphone. The light should have been on while you were doing this and still be on. If it didn't stay on the whole way try again from when the mic is closed.
3. Remember the "paired device" menu? Select "New" and it will auto search for the headset.
4. It should be found quickly. The headset (that you should still be holding down but with mic open) will blink, then your phone will ask if you want to pair with Motorola HS850. Say ok, then it will ask for passcode 0000.
5. The headset will blink and the phone will say it was successful, and ask if you want it to be turned on. Say yes and make a test call. It should be fine from there.
Hope it helps!
