Pull the plug boot off. stick in a screw drive and ground out next to the head or bolt (hole out about 1/4 in). pull the cored to see if you have spark. ( pull the plug out, it'll help to pull the cord). now if you have no spark. find the coil and remove the black ground wire, and check again. if you have spark, than the switch or wiring is bad, if not, the magnetron is bad . good luck

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode. HTH

Homelite chainsaw will not start model #UT10822

Yep...You will also need to install at least a GND (gasket and diaphragm) kit if not a full carburetor repair kit. The fuel filter is probably clogged by now too. You may need to replace the fuel line(s).

Brushes sparking too much

Homelite Chainsaws have no brushes that I know of. Maybe it is not that. It could be a short in the magneto coil wire that goes to the switch.
Check to see if anything is shorting out under the flywheel cover. All the way back to the switch.
