Hi, have bought a second hand britax car seat without a user manual and need to adjust the straps. Not sure whether I have to take seat of it's base and if so, how do I do it? Thanks, kate

Press and hold down the harness release button. With your other hand below the chest pads, pull the shoulder straps forward as far as possible. With the Eclipse Si fully reclined, open the seat-belt guard at the back of the shell. Pull the yoke out from behind the seat and unhook both shoulder straps. Pull the cover from the top of the seat so that you can see the slots in the seat shell. Pull each shoulder strap and chest pad strap forward and towards the centre of the shell, easing the metal tab and straps through the slot. Then thread them through to the front of the cover. Unfasten the buckle and remove the comfort pad. Gently pull the cover off the seat, easing the shoulder straps, chest pads, harness buckle and adjuster strap through the slots in the cover.
it does not go by age, it is based on height and weight. Rock A Tot is not a recognized name on their website of current or retired models. http://www.britaxusa.com/
It is a model from the UK- Weight/Size Suitability -------------------------
The Rock-a-Tot is a group 0 car seat,
suitable from birth up to 13kgs (around 9-12 months). It uses a three
point harness. For a newborn this seat is lovely, the head hugger makes the seat very snug and secure around their head. However I did find that as my baby got older the head hugger seemed too confining and we removed it when he was about 4 months old. The shoulder straps can be adjusted to 3 or 4 height settings allowing a good fitting as you baby grows. Although this seat is designed to go up to 13kgs I think that most people chose to move their baby
out of this seat when he/ she reaches 9kgs and put baby into to a
forward facing seat. Adrian was a large baby to start with (9lb 9oz) and
also long. By the time he had reached 9kg's (around 7-8 months) his
legs had to be bent slightly with his feet touching the back seat which
we didn't think would be very safe in an accident (as surely more
pressure would be placed on his legs if the car seat moved towards the
fixed seat)and he was getting rather squashed in to the seat.
Here's a link to their User Guide page. It also has an email you can use to get installation instructions. http://www.britax.co.uk/customer-service/user-guides/Alternatively, you can try and find a car seat check in your area. http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/
Tilt seat back and slacken straps fully. Follow each shoulder strap through back of seat and down towards lower back of seat. There you will find (maybe hiding under a plastic cover) a metal bracket that retains the straps. You can slide the straps out of this, pull out and thread back through at a higher point.
The actual tension adjust ment is usually a metal clip that you push or pull which is located in the centre/ front are of the seat, or front/centre, underneath where the child's feet hang.
Go here to download a copy of the manual.
The straps that are in the area where you'd thread the seatbelt to install are for LATCH installation if you have LATCH anchors in your car - but you can only use seatbelt OR LATCH to install, never both. The strap at the top, with the same hook, is the top tether.
Instructions for using both are in that copy of the manual - the installation instructions for the Regent vary depending on your child's weight, so read it carefully.
Try Britax.co.uk, they have all the user guides and instructions available for free download. i had the same problem as i washed the seat covers and then couldn't remember how to put the harness back. Hope that Helps.
