My Amana ABC2037DEB is 4 years old. I recently started hearing something different coming from my freezer. Every 2 minutes or so, it starts with a click followed by a hum that lasts 5 seconds or so. This morning I noticed the ice machine stopped making ice and things are slowly melting. Yet it still seems cold, perhaps as cold as the refrigerator setting. Both the refrigerator and freezer have been on the "4" setting since I bought it without any problems. Any ideas?
That click followed by a hum can only be one thing
pull the unit out and feel the compressor, if its really hot you have a relay and overload issue, and it struggles to start.
with any luck, it is the external relay and overload found mounted to the comresssor should be a lil white block
if not it will be two differant parts
a lil white one and a brown one
let these cool a bit and check both for continutity

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
