I agree with Nico-Fixus, the heading alignment is one of the things to be checked. Unless this is a new installation it is unlikely that the Radome (antenna) got removed and reinstalled facing the wrong way. So antenna orientation would not be a concern.

I have seen units that for some reason the wrong Radome was selected in the configuration of the Navnet display.

Read the model number on the Antenna, then check that correct antenna type in loaded in your display.

The problem is you have never set your heading alignment or your radar is on backwards. Check your installation guide for radar heading alignment procedures. Now it shows up as a 1732 which is a navnet. but you say it's a 1731 which is different.
On the 1732 navnet power on the device while holding the menu button. this will take you into installation mode. Next wait for the radar to stop counting down. next transmit the radar. press menu>system config>installation setup>radar setup > next page. your heading alignment adjustment will be there. adjust 180 degrees and you should be good. Just line it up with a bouy after wards.

On a 1731, I think you have to hold the gain button down on startup and then it should open the option for the installation menu to come up. check page 6-17 in you operators manual to see how to do it. if you don't have the manual you can obtain a pdf from www.furunousa.com click on search in the upper right hand corner and type 1731 then select 1731 then goto manuals. Cheers!

How to reset the tx hours on sperry xband radar after replacing magnetron

The procedure for resetting the TX hours on a Sperry X-band radar after replacing the magnetron can vary depending on the specific model and software version. However, here are some general steps that may work for most models:
  1. Turn off the radar system and disconnect all power sources.
  2. Wait at least 10 minutes to allow any stored energy to dissipate from the system.
  3. Locate the "TX Hours Reset" button or option in the radar's menu or settings.
  4. Press and hold the "TX Hours Reset" button for several seconds until the display shows a confirmation message or beep.
  5. Release the button and wait for the radar system to reboot and recalibrate.
  6. Check the TX hours display to make sure it has been reset to zero.
If you are unsure about the exact procedure for resetting the TX hours on your Sperry X-band radar, consult the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Radar 1731 shuts down when tx is hit

There are a couple of things that could cause the radar to power off when going into the transmit mode.

The first thing to eliminate is input power. When in the standby mode the radar draws less current than in the tx mode so if you have low voltage for whatever reason, that could cause a shut down. Check all connections and measure the voltage to the unit while it is on.

A problem with the antenna motor or gear box could also be the problem. The antenna doesn't rotate unit the unit is switched to the tx mode. You would need to remove the dome cover (with unit off) and verify that the array will turn freely by hand. Typically, a bad motor will not cause a shut down but a physical obstruction could.

Focus on the power issue because that's the most common problem. Be aware that you need to measure the voltage as close to the radar display as possible and watch the voltage as you switch the radar from standby to transmit for a quick dip in voltage.

How to install FURUNO magnetron MG5436 for Radar

Assuming you have the right magnetron for the right model radar, you desolder the two leads, remove the 4 or 6 mounting screws and reverse the process for the new maggie. Let radar run in standby for 30 minutes before going to transmit. Most Furuno radars have auto-tune and will tune itself to new magnetron.

Hi, Furuno 1731 radar - no sweep/echo seen on screen. Scanner is rotating and other display is normal.

Go to longest range and full Gain min Rain and Sea Clutter
Do you have speckle? Yes = Receive OK, Wiring OK,No transmit (magnetron or modulator) No = Most likely a broken wire
There is a very tiny coax (shielded wire) that is know to lose its' center conductor, which is very delicate

2003 lincoln navigator reverse sensor no longer working, is this a fuse? the sensor use to work when backing up, now it just stopped working.

This is a very common problem and depending on the code, its very likely a radar sensor. It is located in the bumper cover.

Can a radar still display your locked speed if the unit is turned off. An officer gave me a ticket..  I was driving and saw the patrol car, my radar detector came on when he turned his on then he turned...

Yes. On many radar gun models the officer can lock your speed and turn the radar gun off, yet the radar gun will still display the locked speed. Officers are not required to show you the locked speed.
