Possible dirty cartridge interface. Use a Q-Tip and alcohol and clean the interface on the cartridge. Hopefully this will fix your problem. Occasionally the games will corrupt and only partially work. (If this is the case more than likely the game got wet at some stage and the insides of the cartridge have battery leakage and corsion and can be fixed)
It sound like the color or the screen parts inside of the game boy color are not working properly so it would just be easier to buy a new one vs fixing the current one. The current one could be fixed but it might not be an easy fix and the fix might be complicated then.
Well technically there is no back light for gameboy colour but gameboy advance SP has a built in light to it then. You can play gameboy color and original gameboy games on an sp then.
Unfortunately, the Game Boy color has no backlight, so there's no way to make the screen any brighter. You can change the contrast, but that will only affect how dark things appear on the screen. Sorry.
Hello, After the change of batteries, the screen reverted to default contrast. You should try to darken the screen. Press and hold the [Diamond] key and tap the [+] key. Keep at it until screen is dark enough. Hope it helps.
Was the device dropped or damanged? The most common problem is a cracked screen. The crack is on the back so you can't see it. The screen will need to be replaced.
The originalGameboy Advance did not have a back-lit display so the picture was dark. There were several aftermarket led lights that clipped onto the Gameboy but most of those were pretty useless. There was an aftermarket internal led light called the afterburner that you could add to your Gameboy but it requires a bit of skill to install. You can still buy them pretty cheap. The Gameboy SP did have a built in back-light so if that's the one you have then the led is probably out.
if the picture is REALLY dark, like you can just barely see it in a lit room, then the backlight might not be lit. LCD TVshave backlight that shines through the LCD screen which allows you to see the picture.
If it's not the backlight then it would be the brightness/contrast settings that need to be adjusted. If the picture used to be normal and all of a sudden went dark, verify the backlight. Normally you can look through the slots on the top of the set and determine if the backlight is on. If you can see a bright light through any of the slots, the backlight is probably OK... go after the brightness/contrast settings.
