I have a Toshiba 24af42 with no remote. I am trying to change the input, but without a remote I cannot figure out how to change it. I have tried a universal remote which works for other functions, but not the input. Is there a way to access the menu or change the input from the TV its self? There is no menu or input button on the TV.

Hi Katie.. If you are using a coaxial cable to connect your TV and VCR, the TV needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4. If you are using the Yellow, red and white cables, your TV should be on video mode to work.

Buy a universal remote control and program it to work with the television and DVD player you have.

Do you mean the MD20FM1R TV/DVD? The DC-SB2 isn't the correct remote for this TV/DVD. You would need to recode the internal chip. The MD20M1R uses the DC-FL20S remote. A substitute remote is available here: http://www.toshiba.newremotecontrol.com/catalog_item.php?catnum=BZ614254 . Alternatively, a universal remote that was programmed at least 6 months after the MD20M1R was released will probably have the correct codes for your TV.

that would be a fault with the cable. If your using a SCART connection then try moving &pushing both ends, the sound might come back orherwise you need a new cable. if your using HDMI then try unplugging the cable at both ends & then plug it back in, that normally works.

How to get the input on the tv without the remote

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,
