This model number is not coming up. The 'J' on the end, is that a typo? There is no model with the 'J' on the end that I can find.

If your model is GE GSS20GEW, then the spec sheet indicates there is no water filtration system on this refrigerator. Although the manufacturer's generic blurb on it says "...fresh, filtered water...".

Here is the link to the specifications:

If you're sure it has a filtration system and there is not an obvious canister shaped filter inside the cabinet then they are usually located underneath the unit on the front. There will be a round looking thing protruding from the bottom-front grill or the grill will have to be snapped out to get to the filter. I would look here for it.

If this information was useful, please select YES to the first to rating questios. Good Luck and thank you!

The water valve has two sides. One side is for the ice maker and one side is for the dispenser. If the dispenser side fails you have to change the complete dual water control valve. What is the model number of your GE Refrigerator? Sea Breeze

No water, no ice, but new water filter cartridge

If it was running before the filter change you need to purge the filter cartridge of the air in the lines. Also check voltage on the back on the water control valves . While someone presses dispenser you should get 120volts AC on the plug receptacle side for the dispenser . Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze

WATER LEAK FROM FILTER

It sounds as if the filter head is broken after the check vavle since it doesnt leak until filter is installed or bypass plug. one thing you may check before you call for service is remove the filter head cover and check to see if a water line is pulled loose otherwise I recomend you call GE for warranty service. thanks peyton
