The normal temperature for a refrigerator is 35-40 degrees F, so 40 at full cold setting is not correct.

If this is a side-by-side or top-freezer, make sure that the air vents between freezer and fridge are not blocked by food items or ice.

Make sure defroster operation is working normally as ice will block airflow.

Also, there is a circulating fan in most models that moves cold air from freezer to fridge. make sure that's working.

Model no. pfs23kshss ge profile refridgerator left door does not match up flush on the outside with the right door. we can feel the cold air escapifridge temp was 62 degrees and freezer at 10 degrees

Gotta stop the air loss by fixing the hinges and/or replacing the door gasket. Freezer should be around zero degrees and fridge around 40 or less.

My food in the refrigerator is freezing. How do I fix this? What are the temps that the fridge and freezer should be set on.

If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly. This is a common problem that often doesn't have a clear, permanent solution. The first thing to check is the overall internal refrigerator temperature. The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try: If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf. If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper.

Bought a brand new LG bottom freezer fridge a couple of months ago. I like the refridgerator part to be cold, so we keep the fridge temp on 6 (1-7 are temp choices. 7 being the coldest). We had the freezer...

If designed as most combination units, one of the two controls influences the temperature directly, the other only determines how much of the generated cold air is allowed to enter the other compartment. The typical arrangement is that setting the freezer temperature determines how often often the compressor runs; the other diverts a portion of the cold air into the refrigerator side.
Using the common thermometer for cold temperatures (~$5 US), adjust the freezer temperature for 0 to -5 degrees F (the often recommended temp.), then the other control for the desired refrigerator temperature, suggested as 35-45 F. This is the most common practice.
If you cannot balance them the way you want, reverse the procedure, setting for refrigerator temp., then freezer.

What is the operating tempreture at mid range setting & coldest setting

There is no certain temp at mid range . If there was , I'd say 40 degrees . If there was a certain temp , at any setting , then there would be no need for a thermostat , only an on/off switch . The mid-range , is set by the factory , as a normal operating temp , to keep food safe . However , some people like their milk colder , so , they turn the thermostat higher . Like milk warmer , turn down the thermostat . Basically , the settings are a personal preference of the temperature you like your food .

Freezing my lettuce in crisper , so how do i change the temperature so my vegetables don't freeze. i do not have a producy manual.

Magtag has dropped the ball on this one... The temp at the top and the bottom of the units are varied. Try turning your temp gauge down just a fraction until the lettuce doesn't freeze. I also suggest getting a temp gauge (cheap) and placing on your top shelf to monitor. Temp should be around 40 degrees.

The food freezes in the refridgerator section

  • If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly.

  • If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf.

  • If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
