Sounds like your battery is low or you have blown a fuse. which is likely if you changed the ignition cylinder without unhooking the battery first. be that as it may if it's a standard you can push start it. that will charge the battery up.

When i start my 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0L 4wd It will not go from Park to Drive with the key in & on and your foot on the brake. what ever makes it release to move the shifter is not working... any Idea on...

Only 2 things could be wrong. The brake light switch mounted by the brake pedal arm or the shifter solenoid. Column shifter solenoids you can buy. But console shifters, you have to buy the entire shifter to get the solenoid.

I have a 2010 dodge journey and the shifter get stuck in park

If your parking on an incline, that would possibly cause it plus switch at brake pedal may need to be adjusted. If you find pushing harder on brake pedal helps, have it adjusted, or replaced.

99 diagram supercharger

Could be one of two things. First is the brake light switch, located of course at the brake pedal under the dash. But usually if the brake lights work it is fine. Second there is a solenoid inside the console at the shifter. Look to the right of the shifter, there should be a slot there. Insert a key and push down to release the shifter. This solenoid is part of the shifter, so to replace it you have to replace the whole shifter, Runs from $150 to $200

Key stuck in ignition able to drive not able to take key out

There is a hole under the steering column you will have to stick a pen in it, and you will hear a "spring" sound and you can remove your keys. Once removed, check your shifter, and clean around it. Sometimes this is caused because your shifter is not completely in park. Other solution is to replace the ignition switch after you get them out. Unless you want to just stick a pen in the hole everytime. Thanks.

My friends mom called me, her grand maquis will only start in neutral. plus all the head and tail lights are completely out

you need to start with the neutral lock out switch, it is connected to the shifter mechanism. it keeps the starter from being engaged unless the shifter is in park or neutral, and turns on the back up lights when in reverse. it may also have a switch to release the parking brake.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and the shifter cover that slides inside a track came apart / broke in the middle. I have taken the bezels apart and can see where it broke. It doesn't look like it...

2005 Jeep Cherokee Laredo- I cut three pieces of 2 inch wide black seat belt material the same length as that cheap piece of rubber. Then glued them together for a thicker belt webbing. Then heated a 3/8 piece of steel rod to melt a hole in the middle of the laminated webbing for the shifter to fit thru. Then slipped it into the slot on the console. Jeep wanted $812.00 for the replacement console.... They do not sell the little cheap piece of rubber to do your repair. Jeep wants you to buy the whole freaking console unit!

Shift lever is stuck in park. dont think it is the brake switch , feels like something in lever . 1996 grand am

Hello.
It may not be the the brake switch, but may be related to it, if you can, pop your center console out, and see if there is anything jamming it. You should also try and pull the shifter knob off, may be something to do with the push button. Hope this helps!

2005 grand am shifter problem

The shifter button on the shifter is released when you start up your car and step on the brake pedal. If you are having an intermittent problem, you may be having a shifter release solenoid issue. the shift solenoid is part of the brake light switch system so the problem can also be in the brake switch. If you do not know how to check it out, I would bring it to a reputable repair shop and have them check it out for you.
