Power acoustik ps2-1600 blowing fuses

Ohm's Law says watts / volts = amps, so 1000/12 is 83+change -- damn! I hope you have a big, phat alternator! So fuses have to be rated somewhat higher than device load, you need a 90 amp or 100 amp fuse -- what style I couldn't even begin to guess, normal automotive fuses don't go that high.

If this is a new install, make sure your power wires are heavy enough to handle the load. A fuse's job is to blow before the wiring catches fire. The longer the wire is, the thicker it must be. Electrical fire is a catastrophe so make sure your wiring is adequate -- I know it's hard to believe but the power wire is actually more important than the speaker wire!

another couple of things is a bad ground wire. a sub going bad( causing a different ohm load then before) ive run into a bad fuse link in the amp before as well

Yes, your amplifier needs the amout of fuses as there are fuse ports.
In case something were to go wrong it would blow the fuses instead of your amp and subs and burning your wire harness up..

Check for any short circuit with wiring of the amp. If there is no such fault, surely your amp need service. It has some internal shorted components. This work is really a skilled one, and can only be done by any experienced service personal only. OK.

Does your fuse blow when volume turned up, or does it blow straight away when turned on? What watt is your subs and amp?

Generally, if you are using the manufactures fuse rating you can use a slightly higher rating and it will resolve the blowing fuses. Fuses supply resistance, if there isn't enough resistance you'll fry the system board in the amplifier. But if you have 25 amp fuses installed, install 30 amp, if you have 30 install 35 amp, 35 install 40. Anything higher will damage the amp.

A rare chance, something may be internally wrong with the amp and shorting it out which will blow the fuse.

Use the incorrect wiring of subs to the amp, you'll blow fuses and damage the amp from it turning off consistently. The amp should be running at 2 ohm stereo stable or 4 ohm mono stable.

Very few amps are designed to run at 1 ohm or less. Not to mention the subs can't handle it.

Power and ground are touching. Either at the terminals or inside the amp itself.

Just replace the blown fuse with one of the same amp rating... If the fuse keeps blowing you'll wanna recheck your wiring and make sure you don't have a short somewhere.

Make sure that the speaker wires are wired correct at both the amp and the speakers......otherwise it sounds like the typical death of a power acoustik amp (great amps, but prone to a premature death)

Hi , now that you have the amp apart , just check the underside of the printed circuit board and check for any corrosion ,rub it with a soft brush . then try connecting without speakers . see if it still blows fuse, if it does then there is a likelihood that your mosfets / outputs may have shorted the first time you reconnected it .
