I'm attempting to print with my 924 printer , which I use very occasionally. You inform me that I am using an "UNSUPPORTED CARTRIDGE".The offending ??? cartridge is one I purchased from Dell some time back...

Since you are printing occasionally, I guess the nozzles on your print head (which is on your cartridge), are clogged up. You can find your printer on your pc, or just click print. When the window for printing opens, you will see several tabs. One of them should be "maintenance". You can try and clean the nozzles via your pc. Just follow the instructions on your monitor. You should also know that cleaning the nozzles will use a lot of your ink, especially if you do it several times.
Hope that helps!

I have inserted new ink into dell 924 but not printing

This can happen to cartridges with attached print heads such as HP, Lexmark or Dell. All cartridges are weighed and tested before leaving the factory so lack of ink isn't the problem. It usually has to do with the print head of the cartridge not having any ink to feed it. This happens because cartridges are kept flat or upside down for weeks or months before being used and the ink settles away from the print head. The easiest remedy is to open the box and stand the cartridge upright for a few minutes before using. Then get a damp paper towel, fold it into quarters and sit the cartridge print head down onto it. Hold the cartridge down to the damp paper towel for three minutes. This will help pull the ink out of the print heads, priming them and getting them ready to print. Finally, install the cartridge into your printer and print a few test pages.

Right cartridge incorrect and printer will not

I have the same issue where the printer displays "Right cartridge Incorrect". However, it's had no problems up until about two weeks ago and I've had the right cartridge in place for about a year or so.

Printer: AIO 922 (All-In-One 922)
Ink: Remanufactured ink

Dell 924 printer shows error as "unsupported cartridge"

You can't have a Dell cartridge refilled. It's Dell's way of making big bucks selling overpriced cartidges. Their practise is almost illegal and eventually they will get sued.
Buy an HP or a Kodak printer. Both sell better printers and their cartidges can be refilled.

Unsupported cartridge??????????????

Check to make sure that all of the packing "tape" has been removed correctly on the replacement cartridge and that the cartridge is seated correctly and the circuit contacts make good contact with the contacts within the carriage assembly and that nothing is obstructing it. Possibly a defective cartridge..
